we're living in the land of minority rule at this point, and the story in the post that is also posted proves it isn't going to end anytime soon |
I have no idea if any of these could win, but I like
Tammy Duckworth Kamala Harris Kristen Gillibrand Eric Holder Mitch Landrieu (NOLA Mayor) Mazie Hirono Maura Healey (Mass AG) Michelle Obama (she wouldn't ever run, but) Maybe Corey Booker No Biden No Bernie No Hillary No Kaine No McAuliffe |
With the exception of Bush II's re-election, Republicans haven't won a plurality, much less a majority, in a loooong time. They don't need to though. They've been laying the groundwork for minority rule for a long time. |
It feels like Dems can only win if they have excessive turnout of the Dem base, particularly women of color, and if there are no even semi-likable third party candidates that people can fall back onto. |
More Russian trolls. |
Totally agree, but I am gratified to hear Democrats acknowledging that Trump could win in 2020. I think our biggest challenge is a repeat of 2016 -- thinking there's no way America would (re)elect that idiot. Never underestimate the stupidity of the American electorate. |
this times infinity |
Of course he can win. The bolded above is my in-laws, who I can barely speak to anymore. All they want to do it tell me how awful Hillary is, like I give a shit. She lost, I'm over it, so should you. I repeat, she is NOT running in 2020. That little fantasy of the right can die now. |

Republicans really want her to run again but there is no way she gets the nomination a second time. Let the Republicans and the Russians spend the next year and a half spinning their wheels attacking her, she won’t run and if she does, she will lose the primary. I voted for her the first time in the primary but won’t again - most wont. |
Did you feel that way after the 2008 election? |
remember Palin? Yeah, good try, but nope |
Haven’t read all replies. Why doesn’t Adam Schiff run in 2020? |
None of these people has ever been heard of, outside of their little fifedom, and inside the beltway. This is the problem - you Washington Dems think all of this means something in "Real America." You need to spend some time in Florida or Michigan or Missouri or Maine. Oh, and let's not forget that John Delaney is already announced and running. If that's not laughable, I don't know what is. |
Plenty of them lack national name recognition right now, yes. 1. I don't live in Washington, though I used to. I have spent time in 3 of the 4 places you've named, including living in Missouri. I now live in Texas. Where, in fact, many people I know, know who these people are. However I admit that I've probably self selected a group of people more interested in politics and civics than the average American. 2. Did people nationally know who Barack Obama was, before he was actively running for President? 3. I didn't say anything about "Real America", and you seem to think you are the arbiter of what is "really" "American" or not. 4. As I said in my OP, I don't know if any of those people can win, but they are who I like. |
