DP, moderate. The parents don’t have the option to turn around, as I understand it. Someone will correct me identify I’m wrong, I’m sure.

THANK YOU. Nicer response than the hater above, calling me a moron and a GD liar. If the parents cannot turn around, I have more sympathy, but the parents need to be more responsible knowing this is likely to happen. I blame the parents.

Also, from what I understand, they are separating children when they cannot determine the true familial relationship, and they are catching thousands of adults with children not their own.

Moron.

Liberal hater and idiot.

DP from the above.
YOU are the worthless fool typing out your flawed thesis when you didn’t know that BP is refusing to let asylum seekers at legal points of entry.

I’m the original Moderate DP in this post chain.. I did not write the above. Not sure why your point couldn’t have been made without lying about who you were? It’s anonymous..

This is totally confusing. Who is lying about who they are? Obviously, the hateful liberal is accusing me of that, but she has me confused with someone else. Rather than admit she conflated (at least) two different posters, she's doubling down on her name-calling and insults. Are you now also saying I'm lying about who I am? We have multiple ps others on this thread, bringing up very valid points.

Sigh. No. Never mind. Forgettaboudit. Crossed signals.

Liberal answer: grant amnesty to both the parents and the children.

Real Liberal Answer:Send them back across with their parents like we were doing up until last week.

Conservative Answer: Send their parents to one jail and their kids to a nicer jail.

OK, all is forgotten! (I think you the one who called yourself Moderate DP, and you were a nice and reasonable poster. We have another poster - angry extreme liberal - who seems to think she is talking to the same poster, even though there are many of us, and is attacking with calls of liar and moron and whatnot.) Carry on!

Follow the fricking law ........... I did not vote for Trump but he is spot on in trying to stop this influx of illegals.

There is no "influx of illegals". These are people, humans, who are fleeing cartels who are ravaging their country in great part fueled by US drug consumption. Stuff it.

Actually many of the cartels have moved from drugs to human trafficking. Much more money sneaking illegals in.

Please provide evidence that major cartels have moved to human trafficking. Citation please.

Not the pp, but this is not new.

Google has plenty of other citations. You ought to try it.

Reading comprehension is not your strong suit. While these articles recognize the well known fact that cartels are engraving in sex trafficking, drugs are very much part of thier revenue stream - which one of those PPs suggested was not the case. Regardless, whether drugs or American-Mexican sex trafficking, cartels have ravaged Central America and the US has a role to play.

I just heard the audio and am crying. Anyone, especially any parent, who isn't condemning this has sold a piece of themselves.

NP. If you can listen to that and not condemn Trump for what he is doing, you are an evil person. That audio is heart wrenching.

Why don't they seek asylum in Mexico than? Mexico is safe.
No handouts, that's why.

Pulling that out of your @ss.

There are asylum seekers in Mexico.

Mexico unfortunately is even more messed up in dealing with them than the US.

This is a crisis. And, it was NOT created by this administration. Another problem that needs to be cleaned up by Trump.

So, those of you complaining, hating, and blaming Trump - what exactly is your solution?
- What do you do with children who come through the border with someone who is not family?
- What do you do with children who come over unaccompanied?
- What do you do with children who come over with a parent who breaks the law by entering illegally?
- Where do you propose these family units are held, given that space is limited?
- Specifically, how do we enforce our border laws?

Catch and release, as practiced by previous administrations is not an option. It was one of the policies that caused this problem. Most of those caught and released are still here today, hiding from authorities.

How do we deal with these facts:

Since this time last year, there has been a 325% increase in unaccompanied children entering illegally.
Since this time last year, there has been a 435% increase in family units entering illegally.
Over the last 10 years, there has been a 1,700% increase in asylum claims.
We are experiencing an asylum backlog of 600,000 cases.
Since 2014, the US has admitted more than half a million illegal minors and family units, most of whom are still at large in the US.

You’ve offered no proof of your facts. Where’s your cite? Pulling numbers from some shady bunch of racists like CIS, and aware of how deservedly reviled they are? What in God’s name is the justification for implementing this SPECIFIC TRUMP POLICY? You cool with border agents mocking terrified preK/K/elem kids who don’t know, literally are deliberately not told, if they will **ever** see their parents again?

You’re a faux everything - news reader, intellectual, human. Your wall of bullshit text is just that.

These were the specific numbers given by Kirstjen Nielsen at the press briefing today. I took notes.
And, again.... more bitching and moaning and no solutions.

Another little factoid from today’s briefing. Of the 12,000 kids apprehended who have crossed the border illegally, 10,000 of them came unaccompanied. That means that their parents sent them on this dangerous journey on their own. Their parents don’t seem to have concern for their safety. I would argue that they are getting better treatment, care, and supervision here, in detention, than they received with their parents.

You don't seem well informed. Parents send their kids alone out of complete desperation and because the "coyotes" who help these kids navigate the journey cost upwards of $5,000 - a lifetime savings for some of these families. They have to chose - Sophie's Choice style - which child leaves and has a glimmer of hope of a better life.

You people are so stupid and craven ... It's just sad. I wish we could send you south in exchange for some of these families seeking asylum.
Seriously, I would not defend parents who trust their kids lives to ''coyotes'' human traffickers. Any desperation does not compensate for their actions to send their kids hell knows where with hell knows whom. "Coyote" is pretty suggestive word, you know.

Liberal answer: grant amnesty to both the parents and the children.
...and to all of their 27 family members, and 50 remote family members, neighbors and friends, ex-spouses and illegitimate children. Bring them all in!
Hell, no. Out. Enough.
