APS Construction - Never believe their schedules

I just want to say one more time, this is one of the reasons I don't think the delay on McKinley's construction is a big deal. Three months in trailers before moving into the new facilities isn't going to kill anyone, and it could bring the kids together in a kumbaya sort of way. A lot of kids have it much, MUCH harder, and I'm frankly not bothered that some kids have it easier because I love our school and our community.

Instead of kumbaya, The South Arlington Liberation Arny will be teaching the children " Eye of the Tiger" and grabbing soft serve at the Broiler. Mona's + kids are welcome, but you will be expected to learn the alto part. SALA ONLY SINGS MELODY!!

I don't get this kumbaya nonesense. I'm sure the Tuckahoe kids would rather move into McKinley after construction is done.

No, I didn't. Some people here are claiming that the CIP process is turning people against each other, but I think it's the inherent awfulness of a sizable percentage of North Arlingtonians that turns them against South Arlingtonians.

Oh. Ok.
SALA finds that depressing.

Aren't they just going to be in trailers at Tuckahoe anyway? So what's the biggie about being in a trailer at McKinley for 3 months instead of 9, if McKinley is where they're ultimately headed anyway?

I'm a McK parent. And you are correct that they will be in a trailer at either place. But at Tuckahoe, at least they will have a gym, a field, parking, and a smaller overall student body. So I get why they want to delay the boundary move until the building is finished. And, despite what the other McK mom says, I think this is better for the McK students too. They need to get the gym and parking situation back on-line before they cram all those extra planning units into McK. We're talking about a 100+ kid enrollment bump over this year, so yes, I think we will feel it.

Because they are leaving their friends and starting a new school that is under construction. Based upon 2015/2016 numbers and the projections, the rising 4th grade is increasing by around 30 kids (or more than a whole class) and the rising 3rd is increasing by around 20 (again, a class). A lot of parents want 4th & 5th grade grandfathered. It's understandable.

Sorry, SALA.

Good luck with the revolution! Have fun storming the castle!

You're effectively asking for Tuckahoe to continue at 150% (or whatever) indefinitely.

Can you hear yourself whining? A few months of gym in a trailer, particularly in the cold winter anyway, isn't going to hurt anyone. Will it? My kid had gym in a trailer most of the year and she's no worse for wear. I've parked on the street and walked 5 minutes and I'm still alive. IT'S JUST NOT AS HARD AS YOU'RE MAKING IT SOUND. And the whining is so annoying.

SOUTH ARLINGTON LIBERATION ARMY

Because even though the entire county is getting hosed, it's the residents of south Arlington that are getting wet!

No one is asking Tuckahoe to remain at 150% (or whatever) indefinitely. You need to stop being so dramatic. It's so annoying. Also, you know it won't be 3 months, right? *ahem* Never believe their schedules.
