I guess that begs the question of what that other incident was all about. It's more than just gossip mongering. We are a family looking at Beauvoir. I take it from your terse response that you do not care to elaborate. Will anyone else?

This wasn't just a simple incident. If we are talking about the same incident, didn't the child call another child the N- word and the parents refused counseling. Don't claim to have first hand knowledge, only what I heard and I am a current parent. Was he really expelled or simply strongly advised to leave? I thought the administratiion handled it well, but again I was not involved first hand.

Does anyone have any information about either of these incidents? I am a current Beauvoir parent and have never heard this mentioned. Please share if you have information.

TIA

There are plenty of parents on this board that have info about the racial slur incident -- current and former Beauvoir parents, current STA parents and several others.

Some were shockers, some might have known it was going to happen, I don't know. But I can tell you it was not just 1 or 2 who did not get in. I know one was totally surprised despite being told they were on the bubble. There were other boys who did not apply at all. There were others who applied, were accepted but were also accepted elsewhere and went elsewhere. The 1 or 2 thing is total fiction.

Within the last few years, my son, was admitted to STA. Out of his class, STA rejected 3 boys. One was expelled from Beauvoir during the admissions process. STA initially accepted and then rejected him after his expulsion. The other 2 had really low test scores (only average wppsi, ERBs & STA admission test). During both family's December feedback session with Beauvoir, they were told that STA was not interested in admitting their sons. 5 boys applied elsewhere. HTH

It is conceivable that the Head of School did not include the 3rd boy in her statistic

Now that I think further about this, there was another STA rejection our year. His family also applied at Landon where he was accepted. However, Landon made him repeat 3rd grade.

Is it really important. The article lists, what, 10 families out of 700?

I counted 20+ with the new incoming families. I would say that's quite a few. I wonder what it's like at the other schools.

I would hope parents are more interested in how well their kids are being educated - the mind boggles!

I hope that's not their focus or goal. Sdiwell has always been know for this since the Clintons. Also heard Amy Carter went there for tutoring, when her public school got out.

Probably more important to the lawyers and lobbyist who are thinking of a political career for themselves or for their children.

I am sure they can. All the DC Power Players can not send their precious babies to one school. Anyway I agree with other posters this is stupid. Yes, I read the article and it was interesting. I am a Beauvoir Parent and honestly I have no clue who is a DC Power Player and who is not. Honestly, never really thought about it until I read the article about Sidwell.
