S/O purple line?

This is such a false argument.

And the one about trees...I mean trees are very important, but so is not paving under arable land in the rural areas for more cul de sacs. The focused density and transit use will more than offset the trees that will be (sadly) lost...and I would expect new trees to be planted anyhow.

I know there are laws in place with regard to tree cutting. In fact, when the ICC was built, the state had to plant new trees elsewhere to replace the ones they destroyed during construction. The new trees, in fact, are practically in our backyard along a path that runs by a stream.

I love this. The PL should be opposed because it will bring "youth gangs" to Bethesda. PP, tell the truth, you are a troll, right? Or else you're doing an awesome imitation of an 80yo neighborhood nutjob.

A direct link to PG County will undoubtedly bring in undesirables and other ne'er-do-wells and potentially disrupt quiet evenings spent at Bethesda Row.

It's hard to imagine that people in PG County have nothing better to do than drive to New Carrollton, get on the Purple Line, and go to Bethesda Row (of all places) to do undesirable, ne'er-do-well things.

Well, if it's a choice btw. robbing someone in Langley Park or Bethesda, there's more money to be found in Bethesda.

You would think, but then again, why risk it.

I agree. We must not build the Purple Line, which will allow a lot of people to get from here to there without driving, almost all of them for licit purposes, because somebody from PG County, who would never think of using a car (stolen or otherwise) to come all the way to Bethesda to rob people, might get on the Purple Line.

(Plus, "people from PG County", indeed. Everybody knows what that is code for. Did you know that we have "people from PG County" right here in Montgomery County? There are even "people from PG County" who live in Bethesda! There are even "people from PG County" (not to mention people from PG County) who post on DCUM!)

please, PP

You know that "saving the trail" is code for everything you've written above.

Planting new trees doesn't make up for the damage you do by cutting down grown ones. A large tree sequesters a lot of carbon, much more than "arable land", annual crops, or grass.

The Silver Spring-Chevy Chase-Bethesda area is turning into a city, and since it's mostly unincorporated it's not really planned. Montgomery County has a history of going in for elaborate capital-intensive projects like the Silver Spring transit center; you can see how hard it is to recover from a mistake.

There are less risky alternatives.

Agreed. I was being sarcastic. Sorry that didn't come across well.

I guess my response wasn't clear.

Bethesda Row sucks. Actually, most of the stuff in Bethesda sucks. Mediocre restaurants and useless shops.

I'll be honest. I find no use for Bethesda myself.

If I need something in a hurry, Target will do. I can find great deals at TJ Maxx or Marshall's. I shop at our local Safeway, which has wine! And CVS is everywhere.

I don't impress easily. But to each his/her own, I guess.
