What franchises have you seen in other parts of the country that you wish were in the D.C. area?

Ew, no. And there are Waffle Houses in the Frederick area.

Anybody remember Papa Ginos in the New England area? They used to be good, not sure if they still are.

Does anyone remember Pewter Pot restaurant in Mass? Loved that place when I was a kid. Do they still exist?

Jason's Deli
Spicy Pickle

Jack in the Box is disgusting!

There are several Jason's Deli's around... Falls Church and Fair Lakes, off the top of my head. I'm from Oklahoma and I haven't heard this one yet - Braum's. Delicious ice cream and burgers and the nicer ones have a mini grocery aisle where you can pick up milk and other goodies. Mmmmmm.

Of course, would settle for an In-n-Out.

I've made the drive to Fredericksburg for Sonic...

Yes, Braum's! I doubt it would ever happen, but what I wouldn't do for a cappuccino chocolate chunky milkshake... And Sonic. (Yes I also lived in OK)
Which-wich (closest one is down in Charlottesville)
TooJay's (south Florida deli)

So excited that Cafe Rio (from Utah) is here now...

I'm also from Oklahoma and would love a Braum's. Or a Sonic. Or a Taco Bueno. Miss them all! I'd add Hobby Lobby but we finally got one of those close by enough.

Braum's poster here... glad to see there are a few of us. I used to say I'd love a Sonic but we always seem to have it when going on trips (along 95 near Fredericksburg and also in NC when we arrive)... so I'm okay with Sonic. Braum's and White Castle, though.

White Castle still exists - we had some in St. Louis over the summer.

Jersey Mike's in Bowie.
Wegmans is opening a new store in Crofton too at the end of the month.
All not within the beltway, but worth a drive?

We drive to Hobby Lobby. Well worth it.

But if it were closer in, I could shop there everyday

Hate the mere idea of Christian craft storethat doesn't want to provide contraceptives thru health plan.

Still exists - at least in MN.

Yes, this very much still exists. It's from Ohio and they are everywhere. When we go back, my husband loads up.

White Castle actually originated in Kansas. So technically, Ohio is its second home

Hobby Lobby already provides birth control for its employees. What they don't want to do is provide abortion coverage, including the morning after pill.

Closed on Sunday so employees can worship.

Imagine if Homegoods, Michaels and a Joann's superstore had a love child, and that would be Hobby Lobby.
