Funny, give me a group of african-american parents with household incomes greater than $150k, and "white people" disagreement is the same as "black people" disagreement, I assure you. It's all about the numbers: test numbers, but also poverty numbers. Eliot-Hine is 85% low income. That means the black middle-class ain't sending their kids there, either. Perhaps you should go race-bait your more affluent black neighbors.

I don't think it was an actual shooting but a person with a gun was on or near the school's campus. It required a lockdown of sorts and was brought under control.

Hmmm, I see you have gathered your numbers to see if you can make an impact. You're right, the word change was the wrong word. I betcha a dime to doughnuts, you have probably started a coalition named WTE (Whites To Eastern). Wow!! 40 incoming white students at Eastern Senior High School next year. That show us AA's that we as Whites mean business and are ready to raise the quality of education at Eastern Senior High School.

Those who avoid us are probably the same ones we want to avoid. Education is still happening at Eastern Senior High School contrary to those who believe otherwise. We do have parents of one majority race who still believes that their child[ren] can recieve an excellent education at Eastern Senior High School. Believe me, if that race would've start avoiding Eastern Senior High School then I would wonder.

To that poster who just wants a piece of Eastern, that is all well an good but there's such historic lesson learned from those who just wanted at piece of Eastern and that is what left us in shambles before.

Quite frankly, it was the pieces of Rhee's conversations with the AA community that made us skeptical. Although she's gone her predictions or outlines have come true with each situation that has been presented. I will go even further with the blueprints discussions that Dr. Janey was even more straitghtfoward in his discussions of Eastern as his 5-7 plans had a warning of "you better beware."

So we all are historically motivated. Aren't we?

Can somebody provide a link to some official account of these "shootings" at Eliot Hine? It is wierd that they are just thrown out here with no details, etc.

Shooting

Yesterday afternoon First District officers were patrolling in the area of
Eastern High School at dismissal as part of our continuing efforts to intervene
in youth conflicts. Officers discovered a group of young men who reported that a
subject shot at the then while they were standing at 17th Place and Constitution
Avenue NE. One of these victims suffered a non life-threatening gunshot wound
and was transported to an area hospital.

This morning the First District again had officer patrolling the area around
Eastern High School, when they heard the sound of gunshots come from the area of
15th and C Streets NE. The officers were joined by other officers and then began
making a grid-search of the area. A crime scene was located in the 300 block of
15th Street NE; however, no victim was found at that time. As members continued
to search and process the crime scene, a victim presented himself at an area
hospital reporting that he had been shot at the 15th Street location. This
subject's injuries are non life-threatening.

Through coordination between Patrol Officers, Detectives and School Resource
Officers, the subject responsible for yesterday's shooting has been identified
and arrested. At this time, we believe that the two incidents are related;
however, detectives continue to investigate for confirmation and to identify
today's assailant. Information developed at this time also indicated that these
were not random victims in either incident.
