Is it just me or does it seem like someone unattached to Sidwell or GDS is trying to bait you both into ripping each other apart?
-parent of a perspective 3 year old just reading as research... |
15-20% of each sfs, gds and a few other Dac area private schools attempt to transfer after freshman year. They literally apply as a transfer student this September. Then wait. Again. |
Sounds like a number you made up in your own head... |
Good for them! Don’t hate the player, hate the game. **shrug** |
Right?! What a nothing burger of a made up statistic 🤣 |
| Transfer apps are really high this year. It's more competitive than round 1 even if you got prefect grades freshman year. |
Not 15-20%, but a good number of kids at our school transfer after freshman year to better schools. Maybe 5%? Have no idea what percent apply. But then there are also kids that take breaks or transfer to schools closer to home and graduate in 5-6 years. That’s probably more like 5-10% of the class. |
| Oddly 3 kids from the Sidwell class of ‘24 transferred to Brown. Maybe it’s because Brown is need-aware for transfers. |
Maybe… Once again, good for them. They will all have Sidwell diplomas and degrees from Brown University (and most likely be debt-free). Some people have all the luck, huh? Note to self: If my Sidwell kids don’t get into Brown senior year, encourage them to transfer to Brown after freshman year. Thanks for the tip! |
| Let's keep in mind that many kids decide not to post on these Instagram accounts. People don't like to have others do research into their family to figure out if they "deserve" it or not when they get into a top 20 school. These accounts aren't accurate representations for any school! |
Yep. Also note that it’s pretty much impossible to get into Brown from Sidwell if you’re not a legacy or have a 3.95+. IDK why. |
