Are you insane? Even Sunday and Monday hospitals and doctors offices were open. Because the world doesn’t stop because it snows. Even my kids’ tae kwon do and gymnastics studio were open and teaching today. Because those people don’t get paid unless they work unlike McPS staff. |
Exactly. That's what I'm saying. Shut down the hospitals and clinics until they force MCPS to stop hating working parents. |
Wow. I'm off of Darnestown Road but we got plowed yesterday. |
| I'm a teacher. I fully cleared my car, stairs, and driveway yesterday. All good until the plows came back through this afternoon and left a huge pile of ice blocking me in. I would not be able to get in tomorrow until I could unblock myself and I don't know when that will be. Multiply this across the county- you know you need teachers to teach...or babysit, add in busses that can't get through, parking lots that are still ice rinks and it is obvioulsy the right choice. Doctor's offices and private companies can of course open as they are not in charge of over 100,000 students. |
You're saying you can't possibly get to work because you don't want to shovel your car? Seriously? What about all the private workers who are expected to do that very thing? What are you uniquely incapable of doing that? |
Actually my doctor’s office was closed yesterday and had a late start today and karate classes were canceled both days. Both are in Bethesda. |
| Prediction Friday closed |
And all teachers should strike like West Virginia did in 2018 |
I am a teacher as well and most of my neighbors and I were smart enough to clear the road in front of my driveway to minimize the amount of snow that would get pushed back in front |
Agree |
How many doctors offices are closed tomorrow? |
FCPS and LCPS and HCPSS and HCPS are all closed too. But somehow if MCPS closes we get whiners. My kids are glad to have the days off and enjoying sledding with friends. |
Why can't you shovel? |
|
Weird how MCPS, along with districts across the state, all decided to ‘hate working parents’ on the same icy roads. Almost like weather is involved.
I assume you missed that most districts across Maryland are also closed because ice is notoriously difficult to remove. But sure, it’s probably a coordinated anti-parent agenda. |
|
The big issue is that probably 50% or even more of MCPS employees live in counties that also closed. Why they should be expected to come in and take care of your kids while nobody takes care of theirs seems kind of weird.
If you all want to sign up to be subs then more power to you. |
