They matter because it will work that into the algorithm, and it will affect both teams ranking. Also, while it seems like 5 and 43 are really far apart, in the ratings world of 2000+ teams per aga group, they actually aren't. Finally, one game can go either way. It's the overall compiled data that is important and why the rankings app is useful.

Sure games can go either way, but I'd argue the rankings should be looked at like a log scale. The difference between 1-10 -> ~100 is probably bigger than ~100->~500. 43 over 5 is a fairly big upset.

Well articulated and agreed. I think the concern or trolling however you want to perceive it is warranted given recent playoff struggles. Team is best prepared for that this year by winning their conference which earns them a 1st seed when playoff groups are made which means they should see at least 2 teams of this caliber in their group as DeAnza is 3rd in their conference, for reference MVLA is 1st an utterly dominant. Union should be the dominant team in their group so that’s why these showcases matter as test runs of 3 game group play mirroring group play in the playoffs. Strong teams get to play other playoff teams typically. So losing by any margin less than a month from playoffs to a playoff team. A team that is at the level of at least 2 of the other teams in your potential playoff group. These should be treated as must wins. Color me concerned.

It's tough to combat that becaue MA is so weak, but neighboring BSC has a #6 SOS in contrast and despite being #25 nationally, they have always out performed their ranking at the playoffs. Wish this Union team the best, they have certainly performed as the best team at this age group this year! They are a much nicer group of girls than BSC, VDA and ARL too so lets see if they have the mean streak neccessary to play to that top 5 ranking this summer.

Lets hope they do not choke again as they are about to repeat the same mistakes as last year. Rumor has it that CW was adding one of the well connected 2011 girls they sent last year to replace the 2010 girl that was hurt. Meanwhile this 2011 girl is leaving the club to VDA next year.

Are they trying to win or not?? They have a few 2010 girls that joined from NVA and other clubs that have been practicing with the team for a while and much stronger and they are playing games not to send her with the team.

This and other reasons like keeping an underperforming sibling if the sister is really good is why parents and players don't have confidence in CW anymore. The parents and players on this team are like a pack of rats climbing over each other for the piece of cheese. But they stay for the ECNL badge.

The puppeteers behind the scenes. There is literally maybe 2 players in the DMV in that age group worth sacrificing team success, for the success of 1. None of those girls play for Union currently. The badge is the cheese for Fairfax parents

Union’s coaching isn’t good. Sorry, not sorry. Hope that next year’s will be better.

Aberration? Look at SOS the worst by a mile in top 25. Rankings are just arbitrary numbers until the playoff results show who can actually compete. Majority of this team was together to lose 10-0 last summer in the playoffs so all bets are off until they can punch a ticket to Richmond.

1. Not a Union parent, but the Rankings App incorporates SOS into the team ranking...that's how the algorithm works.

2. VA teams have a disadvantage at Nationals due to it being in the ECNL off-season for VA. That's a fact.

3. The 10-0 game has been beat to death. It's one game. And this team is a lot different this year due to Brave/Union merger as the top 2010s from both teams went to FVU (see current high ranking).

10-0 wow, I forgot about that but have not forgotten about how unimpressive Brave was. This is the same team don’t start the excuses now.

Yes, you know what you are talking about.

But realistically why would it be better? Hoping doesn’t cut it.

Just wait for the fall when you can add some Loudoun drama princesses into the mix.

Another lose today for FVU 2010s. 0-2. Coming away from the showcase 1-2-0.

Not connected to this 2010 team, but isn’t the point of showcases the “showcase” part and not whether the team wins or loses?

Seriously who cares. Any probation updates otherwise you can take your trolling back down to Haymarket

VDA beat legends. Richmond United tied koge slammers.

VA teams are not at a disadvantage. They play more club soccer in high school season than the teams that play high school in the fall.
