How does this affect you? Seriously, what impact does this have on your life?

Sure. let's live in a dog eat dog world with no moral code or rule of law. What could possibly go wrong? how could this possibly cause me problems?

You must be a troll, because all humans (except maybe trump) instinctively know that they don't want to live in anarchy.

NP. The clutching of pearls over this is so funny. The US is very transactional. The fact that Trump is doing this openly is the difference. You are the troll.

Be honest: how would you have reacted if Obama had accepted a plane from Qatar?

There it is! The final refuge of the MAGAM

"What Trump is doing is just as bad as what Obama didn't do, therefore it's OK."

Copied from the locked thread, "What's wrong with the current Air Force One?":
--------

As a point of definition: "Air Force One" is the call sign for any fixed-wing aircraft that is carrying the president of the US. It could be a single-engine plane or an A380, or anything in between.

The question is probably a reference to the two VC-25s that are commonly used to transport the US president. And, no, there is nothing wrong with them. They are low-time/low-cycles airframes. The reason to replace them is that the 747-200 is effectively obsolete for commercial purposes, and some parts are becoming scarce. This is not yet a problem, but will be in the future. There is no technical reason why either one needs to be replaced in the next few years, and there are many reasons why replacing them with a one-off that is in need of heavy modification to serve in that role is a bad idea.

In some ways, the current planes are better for their use case than the ones that will replace them. The current ones use mechanical dials and switches, which are less susceptible to EMPs. They are also set up for in-flight refueling, which the replacements will not have as an option.

It is not a new plane. It is a hand me down plane.

The two intended replacements aren't new, either. They were built in 2015 for the Russian airline Transaero, which went out of business before taking delivery. They sat in storage for several years.

This article about the jet from 2020 ends with who will the Qatari’s gift this to after they unloaded the sister jet on Erdogan: https://onemileatatime.com/qatari-royal-family-747-sale/

Well then I don’t want OUR army fighting wars for another country. It’s OUR army not the highest bidders right?

When the donors are white you guys don’t say anything. When the donor is black or brain you go ballistic.

Hypocrites.

Which is more likely? Someone (millions of someones, really) with a sense of civilization is pretending to not have one, and voting for Donald Trump and supporting him as a joke, or that a solid fraction of Americans actually believe that ethics are for losers?

Both. Or rather, ethics laws are for Democrats.

Apparently this aircraft has been for sale since 2020 with no takers. So they are sloughing it off to Trump so as to get the maintenance and other costs off their books.

Who started the Iraq War and the Afghanistan War? The same party that Trump represents. That said, war is supposed to only be started with the consent of the congress, who has the actual power to declare war and make the sacrifices of our troops and military in the name of national interest.

Reminds me of Qatargate with Netanyahu taking secret cash bribes and firing the head of Shin bet for investigating him. Although taking a jet publicly is pretty benign in comparison.

They've been looking for a second chump after gifting one to Turkey. The company we keep.

Because it needs to be repeated:

Qatar supports Hamas. They also supported al qaeda.

Saudi is the breeding ground for most of the 9/11 hijackers AND killed an american journalist.

It is pragmatic to have a presence in the region. Iran is reason # 1.

But these countries are not our allies, not our friends, and you cannot in the same breath say college protesters are Hamas lovers while being okay with Trump accepting gifts from actual Hamas lovers.

Notably, Trump did not visit Israel, so the whole antisemitic smokescren is already dissolving
