| Or you could have Jefferson which had a fire in about 1984.... |
Jefferson was built in 1910 though |
| And then rebuilt............ |
Renovated. It only partially burnt down |
It was gutted down to the brick walls. Much more than a renovation. I was there and walked by the remaining walls everyday. |
Well, if you call having 3/4 of the building burned out to the brick walls, then I guess you could call that "renovated". https://flathatnews.com/2013/08/29/the-day-jefferson-burned/ https://youtu.be/FF1nQ-VOxXM?si=lSHXT2Gk5ULUh6Cm That is one hell of a renovation, no? |
They actually fought hard to keep the brick walls of Jefferson. All the interior support was gone from the fire. They had to quickly erect steel supports to preserve it as it was essentially an unsupported 200 foot long 4 story brick wall. They'd have gladly wheeled out the wrecking ball if the fire would have occurred at Morton/Boswell. |
Renovations... |
That and the modern architecture that was in vogue at the time didn't age well. (At least the designs of many average architects.) |
| DD is committed for fall and is starting to look at dorms. She knows she doesn’t want a suite, but looking at floor plans there seem to be more than we had expected in places like Lemon and Cedar. Are we misunderstanding? |
Some dorms are mostly suites some are mostly hall-style. |
| In addition to the typical suites (two rooms sharing a bath), the newer dorms also have rooms that share hall bathroom space with just a few other rooms. There will be choices of both. |
Thank you. We will need to look at the floor plans more closely. At first glance, the number of suites surprised her. |
| Is the West Woods 2 project moving forward or on hold? |
On temporary hold |
