You posted this already. I have watched Adolescence and it doesn't have anything to do with this.

From what I heard from my kids, the fight was over a hat. The kid that got stabbed started the fight by taking the hat from the kid who became the stabber. So they started fighting. A third kid (apparently the friend of the stabber) also got involved. The video also shows the three of them fighting in front of a large office window in addition to the teacher who walks by. So several adults were well aware of this fight and kids just standing around filming, laughing, etc. Eventually after a few minutes an SRO arrived and broke up the fight.

Then after that the kid whose hat was taken comes back to the instigator with a knife and starts stabbing him. Kid falls on his back on the floor and is bleeding everywhere. An adult arrives, stands over the bleeding kid yelling "ambulance" without it being clear who he's directing this instruction. No one actually approaches this kid on the floor to try to stop the bleeding whatsoever, which to me is inexcusable. The fight is over, a child is on the ground with stab wounds. I also saw the video of the stabbing in Bradlee a few years ago, the police officer who was actually there immediately tried to help the victim and render first aid. But in FCPS (and according to several posters on this thread), it is perfectly find to not GAF and not get involved with a stabbed kid.

A victim does not need to be likable to be a victim. He is 16. WTAH is wrong with all of you.

What kind of first aid training do teachers have? It's not clear what you would do with multiple stab wounds and a lack of any sort of hemostatic gauze.

I’ll take this! Former health department staff and Stop the Bleed was being rolled out to clinic, security and admin staff. I left before being certified but it’s a mass casualty event aftermath protocol. Supplies were to be sent to all FCPS.

That doesn't seem to include teachers. Where are the supplies located? In the nurses office under lock and key, no doubt.

STOP THE BLEED is a training program created to train bystanders in life-saving techniques. With the rise of mass shootings and active shooter situations, it is vital that individuals are trained in the basics of life-saving techniques, such as how to properly use a tourniquet, use a hemostatic agent, or even apply a chest seal.

So you want to make this mandatory for teachers?

Is giving CPR and Naloxone taught? Would have assumed that would be taught along with basic life saving as part of lockdown drills training for all school personnel.

Mandatory for first responders and optional for anyone else AFAIK. You aren't paying teachers enough to take blood-borne disease risks and it's not something they signed up for.

Maybe there are fights everyday. Maybe the teacher breaks up fights and there are no consequences for the fighters. Maybe the teacher got in trouble once for grabbing a student who was in a fight. Maybe if a knife wasn’t used this fight everyone would’ve gone to class after the fight and no one would ever talk about ever again. Maybe?

Here’s what happens: students get “sent to the nurse” for concerns or “the nurse” is summoned via phone or radio.

Typically the only trained responder (CPR, Epi Pen, emergency asthma inhaler, Narcan) in the entire ES building is the School Health Aide. If you are lucky, you might have a Public Health Nurse (an RN) on site also. But the SHA is the sole source provider. At least MS and HS have SROs.

There’s supposed to be a list of staff certified in CPR but this is posted in the clinics.

The PHN does all of the trainings for Narcan, Epi Pen and diabetes and feeding tubes.

Important to note that the School Health Aide program (established in 1975) administered and staffed by the Fairfax County Health Dept is being phased out with no new aides hired. Plan is to hire contractor LPNs to staff each ES/MS/HS.

This seems most likely. I don't know how many fights there are at the school on any day. But without the knife, this fight doesn't seem like it would be that exciting, at the best or the worst high school.

A male student (with his backpack still on) is holding back the stabber while he still waves around the knife and is holding it. A child risked their own life to stop this. A child.

This is what we have become, as society, just walk away. Don’t say anything. Don’t do anything. Let the kids kill themselves and don’t intervene. The adults are not responsible.
