Malvern in particular but Haverford also to a lesser extent has cultivated strong pipelines to athletes in the area. They don't board, but they do provide a lot of academic support to the recruits. The kids they bring in are just really superior athletes - big, fast, quick feet etc. - and those that need it get a lot of game instruction starting in middle school. It's caused a lot of griping around the league and beyond about "academic standards" but IMO that's mostly coming from parents/alums whose kids would've seen the field a lot more in "the old days" but for a few very wealthy alumni writing very large checks for the scholarships. The schools don't mind because they get to include those universities in their college acceptance numbers, it's paid for, and they like the idea of broadening the student pool beyond the usual beneficiaries of expensive prep school. Regardless of how you feel about the dynamic, they've executed it really well.

Anonymous wrote:As a local PA guy it is going to be an unfortunate day for DMV Lacrosse during IAC/Inter-IAC Lacrosse Challenge. PA Lacrosse is simply superior to DMV Lacrosse I predict Bullis is the only team with a chance of picking up a win come Saturday. Also it is not listed in the post above but I believe Prep plays Malvern as well (which will also be a slaughter).

Bullis got slaughter last time they played at the Challenge vs MP and I believe Prep is who they are playing via process of elimination since GP has not posted on site and not posted on IL they too will be spanked. Bullis does have the best chance of the IAC (DMV) teams to get a win but Landon may as well. Should be a good day for PA/DMV (IAC) lax.

If only the DMV IAC vs WCAC could do the same thing!

IAC refuses to play all WCAC teams so they said no.

The IAC could easily go 3-3 or 4-2 against inter IAC. MP and HS are really the only great teams. I give EHS a good chance against Springside Chestnut as well.

Great to have the season underway.

The site could use an update and a little cleanup. SJC doesn't drop in a local ranking until someone beats them locally this year.

Disagree, they need to win a game.

The Cadets weren't even that good last year. Likely would have come in 3rd or 4th in the IAC.

They do. It’s hysterical. That 22 team really hurt some dad’s feelings.

Can’t wait to see how many kids show up to be coached by Speaks at the U15 USA tryouts.
