Your link doesn't work. I found this:
https://www.visualcapitalist.com/cp/competitive-countries-rankings/ US ranks #2 in competitivity for countries with a population greater than 20 million. Inferring from the other ratings, Taiwan would be #1 in this category, but it has a population of just 23 million. That would put the US at #1 for countries with a population over 25 million. I couldn't find the exact inputs, but I assume that the US gets dinged for not having universal health care and possibly low K-12 student achievement scores in these types of ratings. |
As an aging Gen Xer who manages teams of American Zoomers, they are all either jacked/hot or obese. Very little middle ground.
International teams I work with have much more of a spectrum with a lot more average people. |
Honestly I think it’s just genetics. I’m a Swede and live in America. Yesterday I had a doctor appt about my pms becoming worse, and after I left, the doctor (who was subbing for my regular) rang me up and said she just noticed on my chart that I was 48 (and she thought I was much younger) and my issues were likely peri menopausal. She said it didn’t even occur to her, because I looked so young. I’m European living in America, and apparently I still look young. |
I’m dual canadian/American and plan to leave once I retire, for healthcare reasons. It happens. |
Socialism…no thanks! |
Blah blah I’m a 53-year old American (ethnicity Irish-Sicilian). I had the same thing occur…and I’m not even in perimenopause yet. My BP was 98/66. I exercise 6 days per week, olive skin, no wrinkles (naturally). Fwiw, fair Northern Europeans usually age worse because of their lack of melanin. |
I agree. The chemical lobby and our effed up political system that prioritizes profits allows forever chemicals, RoundUp (my dumbass neighbors still walk around their property with a backpack of this stuff frequently), and other chemicals to be used. U.S. women's breastmilk has much more of a chemical burden than European women's. Many of these chemicals and microplastics have an estrogenic effect, (obesogens) impacting weight, puberty, cancer. |
LOL you sound five years old. Just like Trump. |
Europeans are also relaxed from taking August off every year, plus two additional weeks during the year. Like sane, mentally healthy people should do. |
Which chemicals? |
Thank you for this post. I also wondered about the random quotes around the word hills. |
People in Colorado don't stop at 75. The grandparents all look great. Incredibly healthy lifestyle. |
I am half European and visit every year. You can't underestimate the positive benefits of having a 4-week annual vacation, which most European countries have codified into law. Here we're lucky to get 2 weeks and are made to feel guilty if we take it or take it in a large block. |
But this does wonders for mental health and appearance. I don't want to work hard, I want to have an easy life and look good. Life is too short. |
