Is it a term used by prolific breeders? When you have to differentiate between your various groupings of children?

So your problem is with people with kids, not language. Got it. Simple bigotry at play.

People with large numbers of kids. So many kids they need to categorize them.

I have six, and categorize them into "the big kids" and "the littles" (though here I don't say that bc I know people get irate at it).

I am The person who always suggests something monogrammed or personalized. Love things with the name of your summer house etc. I would monogram myself if I could. It is a bit of a running joke in my extended family. My cousin just moved in with her boyfriend and I sent them personalized mugs with their names on them. Towels, you name it. Love it all!!

I would probably cause car accidents with how fast I'd drive that stuff to Goodwill to donate. Don't you know that you don't give gifts that YOU love? You give gifts the RECIPIENT will love.

Likewise, the Meghan fan and conspiracy theorist. I think I'm quoting her.

lololol-no, I just occasionally lurk in the royals threads out of curiosity about the subculture of the people who feel really strongly

NP. It is right on the nose for the summoned Kate Middleton SuperFan to (a) respond instantly to any post mentioning Kate Middleton anywhere on DCUM and (b) immediately assume someone who doesn’t overtly praise Kate Middleton in all posts is a fan of Meghan. That exchange was almost a picture perfect example of how the Kate Middleton SuperFan works.

I’m honestly so fascinated by her. I also occasionally lurk in the royals threads, not because I have any love for any of the royals, but because I think the Kate Middleton SuperFan is an entertaining DCUM character.

It goes both ways. There are a lot of Maggie fans and a lot of Katie fans. No-one likes them both.

NP. I do. I like both Kate and Meghan.

I mildly “like” them both. Mostly ambivalent.

I’m not sure which part of this scenario grosses me out the most.

I remember this poster. So creepy.

I'm shocked we're 13 pages in and not talking about 3 jobs guy, who now has returned to the office and can't hire people or keep people who don't want to be there playing golf in the free lunch Christmas party or whatever, and who also doesn't like to employ mothers.

Ditto. I often look at the thread for news but I know better than to post anything even mildly critical of either.

LOL Along with the posters on the college board who thinks anyone who says something positive about a school they don't like works for the admissions office. Or insists that it is a singular person posting about one school as if there could not possibly be more than one happy student from the DC area going to that school.

+1

Yup. Same with those on a smear campaign about the schools they were not admitted to - so obvious.

“Littles” is cutesy and nauseating. If that’s your goal, do carry on.

The littles poster who think only one person is annoyed by her use of the term "littles".

+1.

I’d also like to add: people who can’t seem to understand when more than one person are disagreeing with them, so they accuse others of sockpuppeting or being the OP posting yet again or something. Just accept that people don’t agree with you. It’s not a conspiracy or trolling, really.

Yes to this.

The littles posters also seem to not understand that the anonymous nature of DCUM means that using cutesy language is always going to be less well received than it might be in a text to friends or when posting on Facebook. Those people know you, and may either share your affection for these terms or simply be willing to overlook it because they know and like you.

On DCUM, you are what you post. When you post comments about your kids and refer to them as "littles", other posters know nothing else about you, and you come off to a lot of people as unserious, twee, and a little dumb.

The lack of self awareness there is almost as annoying as the terms themselves.

Case in point - another post by the anti little poster

God, you’re dull. Once again, it’s not a single poster. Using “Littles” is insipid and if you do it, multiple people will tell you it’s insipid. DP.

Meh. I don’t think there is anything wrong with using littles. It’s cute.

It’s not cute.

DP, but I have more kids than at least 95% of DCUM. “Littles” is gross and childish. Sorry.

I don’t see what’s wrong with crystal gifts.

It’s about speed and intensity. Any criticism or even slightly not flattering comment about Kate and Will gets attacked, reported and often deleted instantly. That’s not “disagreeing”.

Their PR teams are not on an internet mommy website, sweetheart. They just aren’t.
