Agree that it is very much a university. But it because it is small and 2/3 undergrads it has some of the vibe of schools like Middlebury, Williams, Amherst, etc.

Vibes are cool, but classifications are better. Caltech is also small and majority undergrad, doesn’t make it any less of a research institute.

Haverford is over-rated as is Colorado College, but for different reasons.

The problem that many see with schools like Oberlin, Wesleyan, Vassar, & Haverford is that they are all too narrow-minded and shut-down opposing or different opinions. Too focused on political correctness.

Agreed. Oberlin does not prepare its students for the real world. Schools like Oberlin rely on the student's family to provide the reality check and if the student's family doesn't have that, or a solid network or emotional groundedness, tough luck kid.

Bucknell is severely underrated based on outcomes. It's currently #31 in USNWR, but in finance and consulting circles it's thought of on the same level as WASP.

I’m always surprised Vassar is not more popular. I don’t know what I am missing about it.

It is difficult to distance from being all female. Vassar has also tried to emphasize financial aid vs enriching its coffers by appealing to the wealthy.
