Esposito is really Italian - pronounced es POS ito. And Giancarlo Esposito is Danish, and has an Italian father and African American mother. |
This is my gut reaction too. Sure, I support it. But I also find it annoying. Like she is trying to challenge people, or dare them to comment. Thats really not what you do with your child, to prove how liberal and daring you are, and prove how simple minded the rest of the world is. On the other hand, if the name had a strong personal connection or something, then I would not feel the same way. |
Umichael Carmichael?
Tonell O'Dell? Udonavon Donavon? |
A simple spelling change is all that separates Siobhan (considered Irish) and Shavon(ne) (considered AA) |
I don't think we can really judge. I've taught more African American males named Antonio and Mario - typical Italian names.
So really - What's in a name? |
It's been several pages and yet you're still not funny. |
anyone read Freakonomics? Take a look at the section on aspirational names. Its a socioeconomic correlation. |
Yes, we like to borrow and modify names from any culture. Growing up I knew a Carlos, a Makarios, an Anatavia -- all just black. |
Does anyone remember Juan Epstein, the Puerto Rican Jew?
Hint - his best friends were Freddy "Boom Boom" Washington, Vinnie Barbarino, and Arnold Horshack. |
Signed, Epstein's mother LOVED that show! |
My friend dated a guy who was Jewish but his name was something like Christian Fiore. |
Natural born US citizens cannot be kicked out for ANY reason.
Expatriation I thought treason was one of the reasons that you could be kicked out. Nope, the worse you can get is life imprisonment. Of course, you can always choose to leave before your trial. ------- Wrong. under a federal immigration law called IRRIRA, passed about 12 yrs ago, your citizenship (if naturalized) can be revoked under certain circumstances. Pretty sure that law was written by the same idiots running the state of Arizona at present. |
Sorry, that's IIRIRA. |
Reading comprehension is not your strong suit is it. Yes, if you are naturalized you can get kicked out for any number of reasons, including something as simple as lying on the naturalization forms. However, if you are natural born (that, you were born in one of the 5 states and have a birth certificate issued by said state), then your citizen is yours until you choose to revoke it. |
