Are you with Tom Brady or with Gisele Bundchen?

Seriously? She's one of the most successful models in the world. Most of the world doesn't care about American football and there isn't a lot of money in American football when compared to the beauty industry.

Huh? He’s been making 10-25 million per year plus multimillion dollar signing bonuses for the past 20 years. No model has that kind of longevity

Giselle is currently and has always been the breadwinner in that family. She’s out earned him the whole time and she will continue to earn for as long as she wants.

I wonder if Tom struggles with that.

DP here. Tom struggles with making tens of millions of dollars, and voluntarily taking pay cuts, so the Patriots could pay more, for decades, to various team members, in order to have a great team - so essential to the game? He is the epitome of a leader

I mean, if you say so?

That’s not what PP means. Men often struggle when their wives make more than they do.

Gisele is still an active model and has always made more than him. Tom Brady is largely irrelevant outside of the US, whereas Gisele works internationally, with a particular focus on South America. I’m sure you think all of South America is poverty stricken, but there is fantastic wealth there and they love Gisele.

Yet, TB12 could be a model and does many commercials, while Giselle could never hope to play football.

And this has what to do with their current marital issues?

It doesn't. PP (or you) insinuated something about money.

I understand that - but I am pretty sure he would not take a pay cut for decades if that was an issue.

As a parent of a child with medical issues and a disability and the daughter of a volatile mother with mental illness, I have also been through dementia with a parent and none of this would be a walk in the park with even all the money in the world to throw at it (though it would be easier). If she stays married and this season gives him another head injury that tips the scales she could within the next 10-15 years be looking at a life of hell. The press will eviscerate her for not doing enough for him as he declines. She will be eviscerated for going out and having fun with friends while he is home disabled even if it's self care. She will have a partner who not only doesn't do his part, but drains every ounce of her energy of he becomes moody and abusive or declines into depression or develops dementia. If she divorces him once he becomes disabled, she is a monster.

If she divorces him and he declines into disability thanks to football injuries, she is a saint in the press if she arranges care and checks on his now and then and stays in his life. She can find a new husband and she is still considered a good person because she doesn't abandon him.

Are quarterbacks at high risk of brain injury? I don't know diddly about sports - but I thought quarterbacks sort of do a pretty safe thing, then mostly aren't around for the rough stuff.

Tom Brady’s career is over 20 years old. He was playing back when quarterbacks were allowed to be hit more and he has already received many concussions. THe writing may already be on the wall for him.

DP. I really don’t know why people who clearly know nothing about CTE act like it’s this huge risk for him. QBs aren’t the guys to be worried about when it comes to CTE. And even he had taken many bad hits early in his career-which I dont think is true-we are talking about one more year of playing. His risk isn’t going to increase much if at all, especially since he’s so well-protected by his offense now. He’s at greater risk of hurting a different part of his body at this stage of his career.

No, pocket QBs are the ones who don’t need to be as worried and only if they develop a quick release (as Brady has). However if you have no offensive line and your pocket collapses around you on the regular, forcing you on the run then you are as susceptible to hits as anyone. And back in Brady’s early days, you could be hit a lot harder.

I fail to understand why people who know nothing of Brady or his entire career except the most recent stuff act like this isn’t a concern. It absolute is and it would be for any football player. They all have to wear helmets.

Mobile qbs can most certainly get memory troubles. See Brett Favre.

True. But also true is that Tom Brady does not seem concerned about it, and this is all he knows - so he wants to play as long as possible.

When you are the greatest at what you do, I suspect it would be hard to sit at home after that. Might be easier for us regular folks.

I read an article that gisele only lets her kids eat one piece of halloween candy.

Um, have you read about Brady’s crazy diet? I doubt he’s fighting the one piece of candy rule.

Team nobody. Too tired to make a choice.

Gisele. And I wouldn't look back.

Lol, once again you know NOTHING about him and his crazy diet. He is 100 percent behind that.

The kids have a pretty strict diet too, but it seems very healthy so I don’t see the problem. Here’s their personal chef talking about what he feeds the kids.

Well, I don’t disagree with this. I think you’re right, it’s all he wants to do. He’s one of the truly rarefied athletes where they are so good at what they do, they are kind of hindered in other normal interactions. Like Michael Jordan having to make up slights against opponents to get himself riled enough to play. His image was that everyone thought he was this great guy but years later with the release of his docuseries people could see the extremely crazy behavior underlying it.

However, it doesn’t make him easy to be married to. When your own parents have admitted they kind of wonder how you genetically got to be this way, when you are putting holes in the wall when you lost a game of Monopoly in your younger years, eventually one comes to realize that to be at his level you have to be a bit of a nutter. I remember he told Giselle when they met he’d retire in his late 30s because that’s when everyone else did more or less. That got pushed back to 45. Lately he’s made a remark or two on feeling good enough to play to 50. If I were her I know I’d take anything he says along those lines seriously and I would be extremely annoyed. I would also be angry and humiliated at the jokes of how quickly he unretired because he can’t stand being around his family.
