South Jersey - cheesesteaks and hoagies. Jersey tomatoes and corn. Connecting over what turnpike exit you live off of.

I don’t know - it’s a small state but has a little bit of everything.

Hi, Mom!

Kidding...
The woman never shuts up about how much better Jersey Tomatoes and Corn are. Look, they are good but so are a lot of other tomatoes and corn.

Heresy

+1 And even the best cheesesteaks are from Jersey.

So true. I stop at Chick’s whenever I can heading up or down the Turnpike or 295.

So so good.

This applies to every situation. One of my Michigander in-laws had an argument with an airline agent at DCA about how whatever the agent was doing was not the way they do things in Michigan.

Look at any Etsy shop offering customized state pride items. The two states most often advertised are Texas and Michigan.

#2 behind Louisiana, Michigan has the 2nd highest % of native born citizens. It is a peninsula, people do not drive through Michigan to get somewhere. That is part of what leads to the mindset.

You must have never had Jersey tomatoes and corn. Out of this world. And if you’ve had great ones in the DMV, check the sticker or label it’s from Jersey. Surprise!

Aborbing the turnpike polution combined with soil nurished by superfund sites leads to a certain terroir that other states just can't replicate

And I really do love what my neighborhood offers. We are so spoiled here. It is very leave it to beaver small town feel - except our neighbors are very diverse.

It is a culinary wasteland, though. Sheesh. Hard to believe with all of the people and the money, but after 10 years of living there, it made me a better cook.

Uh what? There's incredible variety of Asian foods in NoVA, plus Middle Eastern and Persian.

But good like finding decent pizza, sandwiches, delis, coffee shops, diners, or Italian food.

Actually, I grew up eating it. But my mother makes such a production of it that it’s ridiculous. It’s good but so are tomatoes I grow myself or get from the farmers market.
