Writing no phone use into a nanny contract

As suggested here, we plan to give our new nanny a new Apple Watch for emergencies. We are sure of our decision so no need to debate.

My question is how to include no phone use in a contract? Just state agreed to expectations or under cause for dismissal? Or after the ad, the interview and our reminding nanny, is it necessary to put into the contract at all?

You obviously don’t know how to work with a professional nanny.

Op, can you spend an entire day 10+ hours with your kids without looking at your phone?

Who was watching your child while you watched the nanny and the bee?

No but if I was getting paid, I could. (New poster)

No, drivers can do handsfree.

I guess you don't understand that it's not the holding of the phone that creates issues,do you?

I’ve been in multiple cars with paid drivers who talk on the phone hands free while driving. Now maybe if you’re riding around in limos, there might be strictly enforced rules against it, but otherwise, nah.

Do it. We have caregivers for Mom who has alzheimers. They are streaming/facetiming for hours. Many, many hours. I had one on the
phone who would not look away from her phone to talk to me. I had to come back 45 minutes later to reattempt.

Better be one heck of a paycheck, then.

Agree people have horrible phone addictions.

We had to fire 2 carers for my elderly parents before finding one who could pull her eyes away form her phone and actually care for my parents.

I see it every day in the parks with the babysitters.

That’s ridiculous, maybe write in limit phone use to emergencies only when kids are awake but nobody in their right mind will sign a no phone use contract

What if the nanny doesn’t want your Apple Watch?

WHY are people so addicted their phones?

Good observation. They’re irresponsible sitters, obviously not professional nannies. But hey, pros cost more.

I'm not this poster but we are paying $30 per hour and encounter this with senior caregivers.

We have some that stream church. I don't have a problem with this. We have others who facetime for hours. I don't know that
many people where I could facetime for hours.

If they are quiet and they are streaming I can put up with it but you'd be surprised at how many stream rap music at the dinner table with Mom.
Eighty-six year olds don't want to hear rap music and we tell people when they start that Mom listens to easy listening music.

OP--I would hands down set some phone rules in place.

My parents cannot have "streaming" on the caregiver's phone -- what a ridiculous thought -- because they are hard of hearing.

Can you imagine if your bank teller streamed at her window?

This is your job! "Stream" your stupid device at home.
