I ate a spicy tuna roll with spicy mayo and tobiko for lunch yesterday. I don't regret it one bit.

every time i see one of these posts i realize i eat a lot of things i "shouldn't" be. Mayo? Who knew.

I regularly eat bean sprouts, white soft cheese and deli meat. Such a rebel!

Mayo? Bean sprouts? I don't even know what the other thing is.

What list are you reading?

Diet Coke. Have cut back some, but I'm far from having given it up completely.

Tobiko is fish eggs. Not sure why any of the initial listed stuff is bad, but holy shit if you listened to today's advice you can barely eat anything.

Please inform me as to why you can't eat mayo...I understand if you were making homemade mayo - otherwise I am calling BS.

I am drinking a diet coke right now as my second serving of caffeine for the day because otherwise I will crash and get none of the house chores done. I am 9 weeks and so low on energy and nauseous I cant take some of these lists literally. I need to just remind myself that the list 13 years ago for my son was totally different and he came out great. Had my daughter 16 months ago desperately trying to conform to the new lists and failing at every corner....it just got ridiculous.
I also eat deli meat every day, mayo, smoked salmon, the occasional crab cake and probably a dozen other things they have now banned from the list.
If there is someone here making homemade mayo while pregnant I will eat my pregnant hat.

OP here.

I was told I couldn't eat mayo b/c of raw eggs. Same with Caesar salad dressing. I also eat some mystery yellow sauce at a Peruvian chicken place with the fried yucca, which I'm thinking may have it to, but I dare not ask, so I'm going to continue.

Bean sprouts b/c they are supposedly the highest in e.coli.

I didn't know that crab cakes were on the list!

I've also had pate [or however you spell it].

Anyway, I'm on my 2nd pregnancy and I'm much more lax about this kind of stuff and was wondering if anyone else out there was too. You're right, PP, if we followed every piece of advice out there, we'd starve!

There are no raw eggs in any mayo from a jar, and I've never heard of any potential hazard with crab cakes.

Crab is actually on the "safe" seafood list, so not sure what the concern is there. I just had some tonight as a matter of fact and they were delicious I can't refrain from having a big glass or two of iced tea most days. And, I have had some unpasteurized bleu cheese (it was the only bleu chees in the fridge) and I couldn't resist some prosciutto to go along with the delicious cantaloupe that's available right now. I haven't been too adventurous otherwise, but then again I am not that far along.

I made buttercream frosting today. No cake. Just frosting.

taken from LIveStrong.com:

"Even though blue king crab has low amounts of mercury, it is recommended that children and women who are pregnant or are trying to become pregnant should limit their intake to no more than six 6-oz servings per month. Mercury can have a negative effect on the nervous system and the development of the brain.

So you are allowed but it does matter what kind of crab as to how much you can have....it mattered to me because I love crab and we were at the beach for a week after my BFP.

Also FWIW, my last OB who I dumped because he made me feel like a dinosaur lol told me no mayo because of the raw egg thing too. As far as I can read though, store bought mayonnaise is fine. Making it yourself (which would never happen over here and has never occurred to me) is a no no and so are other homemade sauce which I LOVE making like hollandaise sauce. Raw cookie dough, cake batter, anything with raw egg in there that you are mixing and licking off the beater is a no no.

I bet you anything I eat some raw cookie dough before this baby comes though. I just found the best chocolate cookie recipe in the world a few weeks ago and it is my duty to try it raw at some point.

Most women I know get more and more relaxed with this stuff with each pregnancy.

geez... PP here....I feel bad bringing up the crab cake thing now. We re already restricted enough by these lists. It was my SO who initially looked it up because I was ordering crab every night in Ocean City. Sorry ladies. In normal circumstances outside of a beach vacation, I think the limit for the crab intake is nothing to worry about. Who eats more than that in a month anyhow?
