Franklin Farm goes to Oakton and Chantilly, not South Lakes. |
I know that. I was responding to the Fox Mill person who claims they are closer to Western than South Lakes. There is certainly not .2 miles difference between distance to Oakton and Western. |
Yes, Western is closer to Franklin Farms than South Lakes but not to the eastern side of West Ox road that feeds to Oakton. I’m not sure why you randomly brought up Fox Mill? I hope you’re also already starting to realize just because a school is close or far from your home doesn’t mean you’ll be zoned there now or if you’re, continue to be in the future. This is another Crossfield pro-Western comment that uses the same tactics they complain those that want to stay at Oakton are using. |
|
Never heard anybody east side of West Ox road want to go to Western, east side of West Ox road ALL want to stay at Oakton.
Distance does not represent bus ride time. It take longer bus ride for east side of West Ox road going to Carson, than the bus ride to Oakton. As Carson is closer to east side of West Ox road than Western, the bus ride for east side of West Ox road going to Western will definitely longer than the bus ride to Oakton. |
Most of Crossfield is not east of west ox. But, if time is important to you east of w. Ox, then go with Fox Mill Woods to South Lakes. Problem solv3d. |

No we are not in Reston.
We are in Fox Mill and want to stay at SLHS. We have put a lot of work into the school and we don’t want all that work go to waste. Only adults hate IB … you hate because you don’t understand it. Rant over. |
| I think crossfield as a feeder to western makes a lot of sense from an equity standpoint. Hopefully they use this opportunity to help balance SES. |
|
Some Fox Mill parents want to leave SLHS so bad, and hate crossfield, want to send crossfield to SLHS.
Reality is only Fox Mill parents want to leave SLHS, kids would rather stay at SLHS with their peers and communities and IB. |
|
For crossfield, it is different.
BOTH kids and parents want to stay at Oakton for the majority. |
You are still on this kick? I don’t think anyone from Fox Mill has said anything about Crossfield. The people discussing Crossfield are the people who are arguing about staying at Oakton and moving. |
Many of the communities potentially getting pulled into the WHS have similar house prices/ household incomes to those zoned to Crossfield with the exception of some outliers east of West Ox rd. Nice job trying to get people fired up though! |
I know some Fox Mill family will come out saying that is not from Fox Mill. Truth is pro Western crossfield family never has ill intent to send other crossfield family to SLHS. There might be some disagreement within crossfield, but we all wish the best to other crossfield families. We also wish the best for Fox Mill family so you eventually can stay SLHS or somewhere else for AP and IB. |
+1 Balancing SES is not the issue. But, the Western school should have a very good balance with plenty of high achievers. The decision should be made on what works best for the most kids. To me, it is clear: reducing overcrowding neighborhoods proximity Option A--but add all of Floris students. It reduces overcrowding at Chantilly. Frees up some space at Westfield where there is lots of new construction and with minor adjustments can help free space at Centreville. Reduces long bus rides to Oakton Keeps neighborhoods together. |
You’ll have several more months to argue your case. Absurd that establishing the boundaries for the new Western HS is not a higher priority than tinkering with boundaries elsewhere in the county. Reid and the School Board are truly a bunch of bumblers. |
DP. Pp is correct. No one is expressing "ill intent." The concerns about moving to SLHS are from Crossfield posters who want to move to Western. |
