Under the circumstances, Pretti was interfering with a law enforcement operation by standing in the middle of the street and interfering with the officers' when dealing with agitators. We don't know what was said during the altercation. After he was pepper sprayed, he continued to resist. He should have, at that point, moved away from the situation, especially while carrying a firearm. Not saying he deserved to die, but there are risks you take when putting yourself in that situation.

Np here. I remember a time when LEO and federal agents were specifically trained to NOT panic and start shooting wildly at someone’s back at the sound of gunfire. Remember when they had training and skills to deescalate a situation and neutralize a perceived threat or suspect without the loss of life? Those were the days. Turns out 47 days of training (chosen to honor Trump being the 47th president) might not have been sufficient, shockingly.

How TF was he resisting arrest? He was peppersprayed at point blank range. They could have walked away at that point.

We don't know that's what happened. In fact, it appears the agent in the black hat fires the first shot, as Pretti's body reacts to it.

And ICE agents also carry Sig P320s. And it's not as if every single P320 always goes off on its own. The incidents are real but few and far between.

This very well may be a situations where we can legitimately claim "guns kill people" vs. "people kill people." If this comes out as the reason why the agent reacted with gunfire, then we can all blame the gun that went off by itself.

It's wholly disingenous to say that people who are being attacked should just resist and fall to the ground because you'd have to go against your instincts and your fight or flight response, which is very hard to do, especially under extreme duress. Can someone tell me what a person who is at the scene of a protest has to do to appear NOT to be "resisting arrest" after being sprayed in the face with tear gas, punched repeatedly, and pinned down by multiple adult males? Are you supposed to remain motionless like a corpse while being tear gassed, punched, and sat upon?

I think only trained and qualified LE and military should get to carry a gun in public. But that’s not the law. I feel this way because I was once in an active shooter situation where I saw people freak out and lose their minds in panic. Really glad none of them started firing a gun. A retired cop happened to be on the scene and shot the gunman.

The J6 insurrectionists trespassed on federal property and threatened people with those guns, and beat people with them.

We would have never known Pretti had a gun if ICE had not attacked him, took his gun, and accidentally fired it!

But also, at that point, he knew he was being murdered, not arrested. iCE had no authority to arrest him. He had every right to resist.
