Hi,
We are looking for a moyel for DS #2. We used Henesh for #1 and although technically everything came out well, our personalities clashed and we will not be using him again. We are considering: Engel, Rappaport, and Marmon. Any opinions on these 3? I really can't decide who to go with, but I'm leading toward a doctor due to issues we had with DS1. |
We used Rabbi Avraham Rappaport for both of our sons and LOVED him. He's young and very willing to do things the way you want. Good luck!!
We used R. Avraham Rappaport and loved him! Good luck!
We used Marmon and liked him but we weren't planning to use him again b/c the injected antisthetic was painful. We would not have used a dr if our second child had been a boy. But we did like Marmon.
Hate Hennesh Loved Malka
We were very happy with dr. Engel.
I want to add another name, Dr. April Rubin. She performed our DS 2 bris when both Hennesh (who did DS1) and Engel were not available. She is an OBGyn and did an excellent job and lead a really lovely ceremony. She was much warmer than Hennesh and not as scripted and corney as he tends to be. I have also heard good things about Engel.
this conversation makes me glad we didn't circumcise (and i'm jewish).
I wonder if Henesh were to stack all of the foreskins he's sliced together how long woud it be? He did both of our sons. Reminds of a joke about a moyel and a wallet. I forget how it goes...
We used Engel and thought he was great. Definitely wanted a mohel who was also a physician and he fit the bill. We are interfaith and he made everyone feel very comfortable and explained everyting. My DH who is not Jewish really liked him and was happy with the ceremony. My ped said he did a good job.
Marmon was terrific! Cannot say enough good about him.
what value did this add to the string? OP was asking for names, not your useless random thoughts. |
Out of curiosity, OP, do you mind telling what it was about Henesh you didn't like? I used him 4 years ago for my DS' bris and had no problem with him, and have since recommended him to others. But now I'm wondering if I should stop. I was pretty tired and out of it for our son's bris, and pretty much left all the conversation up to my husband to take care of while I preoccupied myself with taking care of my then-toddler daughter. If you're not comfortable sharing, I understand, just thought i'd ask.
LOVED Engel. Was very pleased with him. Would use him again if we had another son.

How far in advance do you book your moyel? Do you call to give your due date, and then call back after the baby is born to schedule? Also, what do you do if the 8th day falls on Shabbat? Do the moyel's travel to you?
Thanks! |
