BOE - who are people voting for?

Anonymous wrote:Apparently, the only people who are fit to serve on BOE are the people who have made students unsafe, lower test scores and lower graduation rates. That is our BOE’s track record. The BOE has blown millions of dollars to settle lawsuits that could have gone to actual education. Instead, we have incompetent board members who love status quo. I’m voting them all out in November.

Good for you
Lucky you that right is still here.

After 2025 it won't be, so spare us your uneducated view on anything.

She is unfit for any position on the BOE.

RW nonsense does not belong anywhere near education.

Brenda M Diaz
@BrendaMDiaz4BOE
A central component of my platform involves ensuring responsible resource allocation through diligent oversight of #MCPS.

This means:

🧹Pulling out the rot from a top heavy Central Office and transfer our precious resources back to our teachers and students our children.

🧹Then, return highly qualified Central Office staff to the classroom as teachers, subs, or test administrators in schools that report gaps in faculty as a way to boost teacher morale.

I’m glad that
@mceanea
is in agreement with this key pillar of my platform, and that Ms. Dixon is, too.

This is exactly what needs to happen. They need to cut all of the positions in central office that come with 6 figure salaries and require very little work. Everyone knows what those positions are.

Have her explain why she feels fraud was not in her race???????

I asked her, response was to retweet the original post. Unacceptable in any reality.

She's an election denier now? Amazing how they never say their is "fraud" in their own race.

The board of elections apologized for that a week or two ago. Are you pretending it never happened or do you just dislike the thought of a liberal Hispanic woman on the BOE so much you're willing to lie?

Brenda, you are a nut job, not a liberal.
On which issues do you believe Brenda isn't liberal?

(PP will come back with something like "all of them" instead of being specific so we can't debate.)

Bethany Mandel said she voted for Brenda Diaz. That's all the reason I need to vote for her opponent, Natalie Zimmerman.

At this point, I'll take a nut job over the current board. Maybe they will clean things up.

No, thank you.

Is it true that the Harris campaign is allowing students to sign off on SSL hours to campaign for her?

Montoya, you would have to ask Harris this question. But, here is the information from the MCPS website:

Can SSL hours be earned for service to political organizations or individuals running for public office?

Yes. Any student interested in earning service-learning hours for involvement in activities that support political parties or individuals running for public office must first submit MCPS Form 560-50, Individual Student Service Learning Request (formerly Request for SSL Preapproval). Once this request has been granted, the student may provide service within the SSL guidelines in public places under the supervision of an adult, not a relative, representing the party or candidate. Neither door-to-door neighborhood canvassing nor solicitation of financial donations are permitted for SSL hours.

Does anyone know what SEIU 500 will be getting as a quid pro quo for their $6,000.00 contribution for Harris and friends?

Does anybody know the quid pro quo for the endorsement of the teachers union to its candidates? I would say Montoya is the most beholden to the union.

They got it on Friday. The Council approved an MCPS budget that funded 95.5% of their asking -- way above last year's budget. MCPS plays their hand and claims they'll have to cut hundreds of positions, including that of people represented by SEIU or MCEA of course (because no way to find that money by cutting other expenses or central office staff, you know). Then, Jawando on the Council issues a statement that he'll work to find the additional 0.5% of funding for MCPS:

Harris should start packing her bags now and start deleting her emails. When Montoya wins, she should use her lawyer skills and investigate Harris and friends.
