Options for opposing Connecticut Avenue changes?

That hill from Adams Morgan to Cleveland Park may be tough for casual bikers, but it isn't for commuters — the first time or two, it's a surprise, and then it gets easier.

Do you mean from Woodley Park? Because Adams Morgan is across Rock Creek from Cleveland Park. Or are you talking about Porter?

I was just using the same phrasing the previous poster did, but yeah, it's from Woodley Park (the bridge from Adams Morgan to Woodley Park is essentially flat, though, or at least feels that way riding a bike, so the elevation change is the same starting at either point).

Whatever, the incline from Woodley Park to the Zoo is not very much. Again, the street was built to accomodate Streetcars and as such, none of it is that much to bear on a bike.

LOL. I’m sorry but this is just funny, like hilariously funny.

A fun pre-COVID past time was watching all of the families struggle walking up that hill from the Metro for a day at the zoo. It’s apparently too steep for normal people to walk easily but not too steep for regular people on bicycles because… streetcars?

It is not too steep to walk easily. What are you talking about? I am certain it's not too steep for "regular people on bicycles" because I ride my bicycle up it all the time, and I assure you, I'm no world-class athlete. Besides, I thought the anti-bike line here was that every cyclist is a fat white guy in spandex -- if fat guys can do it, can't everyone?

The Zoo recommends people to use the Cleveland Park Metro stop precisely because the Woodley stop is uphill. Give it up. Watching you repeat this nonsense is getting very boring.

“Helpful Tips

While equidistant from both Metro stops, the walk is uphill from the Woodley Park stop and flat from the Cleveland Park stop.”

No one disputes that it's uphill. The Zoo doesn't say "take the Cleveland Park stop because the walk is impossible from Woodley Park." And uphill doesn't mean "there's no way anyone can ride a bike on it."

“struggle”? man, you may need more exercise… may I suggest a bike ride?

Uphill just means it's more important to have a separate protected bike lane. I'm not going 5mph up a hill in general traffic on a busy road. I'm crazy but not that crazy.

SF uses a streetcar system that is propelled by a continuously running underground cable. That’s why they’re commonly referred to as “cable cars.” DC streetcars operating along Connecticut Avenue by the Rock Creek Railway/Capitol Traction Company were electrified. Completely different types of systems.

“Because I can do it everyone can” gives away a lot more about you than you think it does.

You just can’t help yourself with the constant goal-post moving, can you.

The assertion was “nobody will use the bike lane because Ct is too steep.”
The answer was: “it is not too steep, many people can bike it fine or use an ebike.”

You’re now trying to claim that because some people can’t do it, nobody can do it.

You seem to have problems with reading comprehension and projection.

I am well aware that not everyone can ride a bike at all, or get around easily by any means, thanks. My point is that anyone who is biking to work is capable of riding up that hill, because it's just not that steep and doesn't require a particularly high level of fitness to climb.
