Romantic place for dinner near Bethesda?

Anonymous
Want to take my husband out for dinner for his b-day. Would like to try some place we haven't tried before. Any recommendations for a romantic place, not too noisy or rowdy, with great food? Montgomery Co. or NW DC would be possible. Thanks for any ideas.

Le Ferme in Chevy Chase is nice, and nearby.

Jackie's in Silver Spring -- not that far from NWDC/CC/Bethesda, but worth the trip -- fabulous, eclectic menu; funky/ artsy decor -- it's always fun to go some place new and hip on your birthday.

Nora in Dupont Circle -- no longer cutting edge, but always lovely, quiet and intimate with great organic, locavore food.

Old Anglers Inn -- if the weather cooperates and you can sit outside on the terrace, it's a very romantic spot -- again, worth the drive; nothing new or edgy about the menu, but very reliable and classic food.

All 3 have attentive and knowledgeable, but not overly intrusive service.

Yeah I guess no romance...but I cannot really think of any bethesda restaurants that have that candle light quiet cove type of feeling.

Hmmm....La Panetteria was a small quiet Italian place tucked away on Cordell I believe.
