| Does anyone remember a "famous" clam stand in Quincy that closed down in the 1970s (I think), called 7E's? My mom still talks about it, and wishes she could find a place around here (or on the Eastern shore) that would have fried clams like the 7E's. She has a milestone birthday coming up and it would be great to find a place like that for her. Google has given me nothing! I guess since I had never been there, I don't know what I'm looking for, either. Just wondering if anyone remembers this place or could help! I'm afraid this might be a lost cause... |

| I hate to tell you, but you will never find fried clams around here that are like the new england ones. Putting aside how 7Es may have fried them, they were probably awesome because they came right out of the water and into the deep fryer. Those clams just aren't native down here. I wish they were! (and I dont recall 7Es, but I can rattle off a list of New England clam shacks that make my mouth water) |

| OP, I don't trust the seafood here. They know nothing about seafood and try to smother it with that Old Bay sh*t because it is so bad. Then they rag on New Englanders for looking for fresh seafood. WTH? Just saying. Sorry to hear. You may want to have some Fedexed from New England? |

yuck. that's sweet of you, but fried food has to come straight out of the deep fryer or it's gross! If you have any chance of being up there or making a special trip, Woodmans in Ipswich is legendary, but I wouldn't dream of asking them to send stuff. |

You can't fedex fried clams! they would be day old and gross.
Freddy's lobster and clams, in Bethesda, say they use fresh Ipswich clams for their fried clams. I can say that their fried clams are good enough to satisfy the cravings of this ex-New Englander. |

fresh, yes, but not fried. the trick to a good fried clam is a lot about the clam, but also about the batter, oil temperature, etc. I dont think OP was offering to fry 'em up herself! |
