Yeah it’s this |
| U.S. cross country skiing is on the up. Men just silvered the team sprint. Nice work! |
What's the statement? |
| Petrosian had the Michael Jackson program since the 2023-2024 season, before she was selected. I'm inclined to think she was just comfortable with it and its a crowd pleaser for the Olympics. |
| I love Alysa Liu and I hope she does very well in the free skate. I’m glad she’s going back to her Donna Summer program! It’s so joyful and fits her personality beautifully. Her World’s gold was a magic moment and I don’t even care if she medals, I just want that joyous, free, breezy vibe for her again. Just wonderful. I love all the American women on this team, and how supportive they are of one another. The Japanese ladies also are incredibly talented and gracious. |
+1 So nice to watch such lovely, fun skating from so many women. |
I enjoyed it. Do they really need to interview them when they're crying, though? Give that girl some space. All the questions that start with "I know you haven't had time to process this yet, but ..." |
| Anyone else following the curling controversy between Canada and Sweden? It’s literally one of the dullest sports going but this actually made me want to watch the replay to find out what was happening. Plenty of F- bombs flying around and both teams accusing each other of bad sportsmanship. Finally a curling match I can get into! |
Yes. 100% |
| Are there fewer short track skating events or are they just not covering it? |
There's the same or more races. We just don't cover it on TV, probably because the US isn't good at short-track anymore. We have 0 medals so far. We saw a lot of short track on TV during the Olympics in 2002-2010 because of Apollo Ohno, the face of short-track. |
We haven't won a short-track medal since 2018, when we got one silver. We also only got one in 2014 silver. |
Maybe, but it was a classy thing to do. Malinin didn't cry that he was robbed of a medal or try to denigrate his opponent. He pulled himself together within 5 minutes of his disastrous skate and immediately went to congratulate the Kazakh gold medal winner. It seemed sincere, and I was impressed at the sportsmanship. |
+1 the whole field is so mature and gracious this year, really beautiful to watch. What a contrast from all the toxicity and scandals of the women’s event in 2022 that ended in so many meltdowns. |
Thanks! It’s a shame because it’s an awesome, exciting sport. They move like a flock of starlings! |
