Anyway, I find this a little puzzling given the nice camaraderie in the house.

Several looked very upset on Leslie's behalf during ATR, and all of them were aware of the not-nice revelations about Gerry's dating life that had just come out. Theresa's feed is full of comments about Gerry being after her money. Honestly, I feel bad for her. I hope both ladies are being supported privately by the other women, at least. They might feel challenged saying anything publicly right now.

Gerry's feed is FULL of criticism, Leslie-specific and about him as a person. He has 100K followers and didn't even post the finale or proposal as a result. The GB producers really screwed the pooch on this one.

For the sake of the show ABC needs to clean up the comments section for Gerry and Theresa. It's a sh*t show. Always amazing to me how people become so rabid about tearing people down from their pedestal.

I'm shocked by the meanness of the posts. I mean WTH?

There are a lot of depressed, unhappy people on social media.

My guess, and of course it's only a guess, is that she is a romantic but also has pragmatic views typical of her generation. Those ladies are used to men expecting them to be pretty (don't gain ten pounds!) and adoring, and she had a husband who wanted her to work too. She has shown she's very accommodating to him (yes, you take the side of the bed you prefer, Gerry) and attentive to his wants and needs. I think he's a bit selfish. Again, not usual in boomer men, but not necessarily a terrible guy. I hope their mutual attraction does deepen into something real. It's hard to say right now if he'll be good to her in the way she fundamentally needs and deserves. Maybe it will turn out great!

Katie posted beforehand to ask what questions she should ask. I and a lot of other women asked her to ask him about the Hollywood Reporter article. (I need to use synonyms for ask!) Anyway, does anyone have a link to that interview? I can’t find it.

Leslie is for sure better off.

But you would have all criticized him if he continued to show support for the women he had cut, and you know it (ie, you would have said he was leading them on or disloyal to the remaining contenders).

He was nice to walk them out for private conversations after the rose ceremonies.

And I don’t remember a lot of men crying because it bothered them to hurt someone emotionally.

DP. I agree with this. I did read the article about his three-year relationship and something is definitely off about how he portrayed himself as a restaurateur who hasn’t dated for 40+ years. But equally, the article also says lots of his former coworkers apparently loved him.

No, neither Gerry nor Theresa is perfect, but Leslie isn’t perfect either. People on this thread are actually claiming that Leslie is sophisticated and emotionally stable because she’s Jewish or something; therefore Theresa is ugly and cunning and Gerry is an impoverished narcissist for choosing Theresa.

It’s in the nature of the show that all but one woman will be rejected. That’s just how it is.

What? No one said that. You are making these connections yourself. Are you the same person who said earlier in this thread that WASPS are the most sophisticated people?

It's a pretty long interview, nearly 30 mins:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RY2NDYbYAPU

He essentially said the HR article ex wasn't a long relationship like she said, then changed the subject. This is the second time he hasn't denied any of her specific assertions. Katie should have pressed him on that. He'd better be careful because my guess is his ex has the receipts. Theresa nods and smiles at everything he says. She's a little too agreeable imo, clearly accepts his side on all things and is just so happy to have been chosen. At times, Katie had to address Theresa directly to give her a chance to speak. Otherwise, Gerry would have talked the whole time.

Are you looking at their Instas or FB? Where are you seeing these feeds?

Insta. His in particular is bad, but lots of harsh comments in hers as well.

I agree, and think that's partly why Faith and Leslie took it so hard. If you haven't experienced it, being love bombed then abruptly discarded is HARD. You feel like you're crazy because he was just saying these amazing dream-like things to you less than a day before. It's a hallmark of narcissistic behavior. You are an object to them, not a real, live person valuable in her own right deserving care and respect.

That IS rhe set up of the show.

It's not the fact that he did it, it's the WAY he did it. He absolutely did not need to love bomb them so hard. We've seen him deflect with other women who tried for emotional closeness or expressions of love with him.

Ok this made me lol. From reddit:

I think everyone will end up happy!

I'm envisioning it playing out something like this:

Gerry desperately tries to rush the wedding BEFORE a complete picture of him emerges. Consequently, he isolates Theresa in a rural Italian village and away from mainstream American media until Jan 4th.

Once The GB perks are gone, Gerry will convince Theresa to stay in a "quaint" hostel until Jan 4 and take on a gig as a vineyard farm laborer to cover any leftover expenses. Theresa will have her moment of clarity while crying and stomping grapes, Lucy Ricardo-style. She runs away in the middle of the night.

Meanwhile, Leslie is killing it on DWTS! Sexy AF and burning the candle at both ends after rehearsals with Pete Davidson and his BDE, she nails that mirrorball trophy!

Back in Italy, penniless Theresa is desperately roaming the Italian countryside--Gerry has confiscated her credit cards, so HE gets to pay for their cheapo dinners. Theresa eventually stows away on a Greek freightliner. Once back in the states, she trauma bonds with Leslie, who sets her up with Machine Gun Kelly. Theresa takes the DWTS trophy the following year.

It all ends with a lavish double wedding for our beautiful cougars and their cubs! Addicted to the Italian tipping standard of 0%, Gerry refuses to ever leave.

According to Hollywood Reporter, they verified mail she received at his address, phone texts, interviewed people who knew either or both of them at the time in question, etc. They did their due dilgence.

I'm struck from the very beginning how unsettled Theresa is. Her chin is quivering a bit, and she's breathing fast. Not being a jerk -- I really hope she is okay. She never looked camera shy or nervous about that before, and I wonder what she's dealing with behind the scenes.

Even if she accepts whatever Gerry is saying about all of this, the negative blowback has to be hard for her. She's a regular working suburban mom dealing with fame for the first time. She's not as comfortable in front of the cameras as Showman Gerry, and was not prepared for there to be any scandal or negative drama surrounding what she envisioned as a dream engagement and marriage. I feel bad for her.

I thought Katie Couric did a good job overall on the interview, asked interesting questions, and did press Gerry on the Hollywood Reporter article.

I didn't really see that Theresa seemed nervous or timid, other than when the article was first mentioned, she looked at Gerry uncertainly.

I was distracted by Katie's ring lights reflecting in her glasses but she had a substantive conversation with them (as much as possible considering that these are reality show participants), especially compared to how some "interviews" are so shallow, like the ones done on Live with Kelly -- those are usually useless plugs for the celeb's current project.
