What are all the blunders and missteps that have come out from MCPS just this week alone? I'm a relatively high-information voter when it comes to the BoE, and I am not aware of any.

These are longer term ongoing issues. For instance, Beidleman's case dates back to a couple of supers ago.

You don't get tired of this line?

I posted once and then clarified why I felt I couldn't say more, but I didn't post other times.

I could give plenty of specific first hand information, but that would identify individual staff and students to people in the NCC community - and that wouldn't be right.

But if you know me in real life then you have heard the details of our experience, and my request to put your vote elsewhere.

I have come to learn what this "incident" was about, and I think I know exactly why you won't post more details. MCPS has a protocol. Take your issue up with MCPS if you don't like the protocol that they outlined for those types of "incidents."

Nonsense. Your reply in no way resonates with my experience. But perhaps, if you're legit, it illustrates that mine/ours is not an isolated event.

Eveyone just be happy Moms4liberty or RWingers only got one through the primary.

YAY

Now pay attention to the book banners, and curriculum monsters.

And keep voting for our children to not have Religious nutcases involved in ruining the schools.

Montoya didn't win

She absolutely won. There are two winners per race because this is a primary. Montoya finished in second place and about 100 votes behind Harris. BOTH Harris and Montoya won and will advance to the general elections.

1,000 votes. You missed a zero.

As of Friday, May 17: Harris 32,557, Montoya 31,585.

Voted for someone else in the primary, but even though I don’t generally want to support incumbents, I will vote for Harris over Montoya. -DP

I'm voting for Montoya over Harris. To me they're pretty similar except Harris is an incumbent and I feel we need new blood.

Harris and Montoya are both attorneys, but there is where the similarities end. You may be OK with Montoya being uninformed about education in a school system the size of MCPS, but I think it's a better idea to have an informed policy maker like Harris.

Informed policy maker like Harris? What a joke! So much for experience in policy and budget matters. They are literally voting to fire teachers in a brand new building that they are paying $50,000 in rent for. They are going to pay a settlement in the Biedelmen affair. Not to mention the McKnight settlement. Vote for Harris if you want teachers fired from new building that they clearly disregarded when it came to the budget.

^^^And I'm tickled by the idea that the people who hate Harris for being an incumbent, and/or supporting the 2020 boundary analysis, and/or supporting inclusive books in the ELA curriculum, will have to vote for Harris because Montoya something something weed.

Maybe it has to do with Harris being an experienced board member and/or the fact that Montoya has no education experience except for her closing out a year as a PTA president at her children's ES.

Clearly you haven't been to Carver. It's a pit. MCPS got a good deal on additional Gude Drive real estate, allowing operations to consolidate into one building. Now the school district can rebuild Carver for state-required pre-school program (the state's Blueprint) and other community programming.

This was all a good idea.

Yep, the BOE is cleaning up some more after Beidleman. What did you expect them to do? Drag this through court? I am sure the poor teacher who filed this case will be glad to have it over. I hope she got a good settlement. She deserves it.

The county council didn't provide adequate funding and those members knew it, Evan Glass' faux outrage aside.

Nice try. The Board always fears mongers about the budget yet has the gall to move into an expensive new building. Talk about being tone deaf.

Or maybe a competent board would have caught this earlier. The warnings were there for years yet Lynne enthusiastically voted for Biedelmen.
