| On these real hot days, at what temp do you set your AC thermostat? What do you consider uncomfortable? This is for people that are home during the day. Is it true if that I set my thermostat at 72 degrees it will blow out in two days? |
| My thermostat is set at around 72 degrees. |
| We generally set ours at around 76, but if I'm running around doing something physical I often turn it down lower. |
| We have ours set at 73 all the time (I'm home during the day), but have been waking up too hot in the middle of the night so I think we're going to lower it at night. |

During the day? 76 degrees and I'm home all day.
74 at night because I can't sleep when I'm hot. |
| Ours is normally set at 72 or 73 and I am home during the day. Not sure where you heard it would blow out if set at 72...we have done it for years! |
| 72 here during the day-but our AC works really well so we're lucky. Even the second floor is cool. |

75-85F, depending on the activity level.
I don't like consuming too much A/C or heating, and I feel ill when I walk out of my house into significantly colder or hotter air. |
| I don't care so much about the temp during the day, as long as I have a fan, and the dehumidifier running. At night I need to be cool and set it at about 70. If it's cool at night I just leave the windows open and a fan on. |

| AC off, window open and fans running at full speed. The AC was not working for me - yes, it was cold and nice, but my house was smelling "stuffy" (sp?). Opening the windows only was also not helping because there is not really an air flow in my condo. Last week I turned on the "hurricane" while the window was open and EUREKA! Finally, after freaking 5 years my home smells fresh and nice. I am keeping the windows open and fans on all the time while at home. |
But, what about the humidity--how do you stand it with no AC? If you don't mind saying, where are you from originally?--general area if too specific... |
Who told you that? It sounds like something a DH would say to keep you from turning it down and spending $!!! I wfh and keep it at 76 during the day and 74 at night. Sometimes, I will turn it down a degree or two during the day if it's super hot. We have ceiling fans in most rooms which definitely helps. I also open and close vents in different rooms as needed to cool as needed but I basically only use 2 rooms during the day. |
