I'd prefer to avoid the teenage employees in Victoria's Secret. Thanks.
Sylene in Chevy Chase.
I've been going to Nordstrom for years. Very professional, helpful, patient and knowledgeable. I agree about Victoria's Secret. Very young staff who really can't relate (with any sensitivity) to the changes your breasts go through during pregnancy and beyond.
Coup de Foudre downtown (11th & E). Terrific staff and lovely things if you decide to splurge on yourself a bit.

Second Coup de Fourde. I've tried the others - Nordstrom, Sylene and Dor-Ne. Coup is the best. I have ... issues ... and I usually have to try on many bras before we find the one that fits. The staff is very patient and won't try to sell you something if it isn't right. One time when I was between sizes and there was nothing that worked, they didn't try to sell me anything - just told me to come back when I lost another 5 lbs.
The prices on their stock aren't higher than the same things other places, but they do carry mid- to higher-end brands. You are unlikely to find a bra there for under about $50 (and they go up from there), but again the prices are equivalent to other places' pricing on the same brands. |
Another vote for Norstrom.
Yet another vote for Nordstrom.

My personal experience with Nordstrom is that they don't have enough selection in the small band-large cup range of bras (32G). I have not tried Sylene or Coup de Fourde, but have been hoping to find the time to do so.
Bring or wear a snug fitting knit top and/or something with a deeper v or scoop neck. A knit top will help you determine if the cups fit properly and if it gives you back fat issues. The v or scoop will give you an idea of whether the bra will remain under wraps in various tops. |
I posted here last week about trying to find a huge bra (38H) immediately. I went to Sylene and they had quite a few available. The fitting was accurate; I'm wearing one of the bras I bought right now and for once in my life I don't have to pull down the rear strap, shift my girls around b/c they keeping popping out of the cups, or adjust the straps. Everything's just staying put and it feels great. Expensive but worth it.
I had a great experience in Trousseau in Vienna.
On a side note, once you know what size and style you wear, I noticed that Amazon has great discounts on some bra styles, and they have a wide variety of sizes.
Nordstrom!
Trousseau!
Trousseau is great. I hated DorNe. The selection was awful, you have to Pay a fitting fee, and the staff was grumpy.
