| Normally I would vote Nordstrom, but I feel like the Pentagon City store has really gone downhill this past year. Maybe other stores are ok. I have been going to Nordstrom for years for fittings and purchases, but after having been fitted there 3 times in the past 12 months -- early and mid pregnancy, and just this past Monday for nursing bras -- I will no longer return. They're just not as reliable, friendly or willing to spend time as they used to be. |
Go to the Nordstroms at Montgomery Mall. I had a fabulous fitting by a woman named Joanie who is the head of the bra dept there, and I swear I have never looked so good or felt so comfortable. It turns out I have been wearing all the wrong size for the entire time I have been wearing bras (have been wearing 34B but am a 32D!). Joanie also fitted me for underpants (don't laugh) with the same result -I feel so comfortable and never have to adjust with either bras or panties. |
| Another vote for Sylene. Very helpful with a pregnancy fitting and very nice about accepting a return of one of the bras about a week later when I decided I really wasn't going to wear the one with an underwire (never wore it, just tried it on again a couple of times). |

Intimacy just opened in Tysons corner and you can make a fitting appointment online. They have something like 15,000 bras in stock--I went and they gave me like 30 to try, all fit, 10 I loved, narrowed down to 2.
They do give you a bit of the hardsell (like automatically pull the matching underwear out of the drawer and feign astonishment should you decline the $40 matching underwear and are quite insistent about it), but the bras I got were awesome. |
| Agree totally with PP about Nordstrom at Montgomery Mall; excellent. In the past I've had good experiences with Sylene, but I recently was there and had a poor experience: a very young sales associate did the fitting and she clearly did not know how to do it--for example, she did it over my clothes, and when I said, "Umm, don't you want to do it closer to the body...?" she did but then didn't do it correctly. Perhaps another salesperson would have been better, but I was unimpressed. |
