Mlsn-Ecnl merger, book it… |
It could happen but there would be substantial concessions made to GA for it to be approved. I would support it if we finally got tiered divisions and relegation. And I’m a GA parent. Bifurcated leagues is probably the best thing for true development over the course of time. |
If MLSN2 does bring in enough to cover true MLSN academies' costs, MLS setting up to cut bait. They don't really have assets to auction off or use for a merger, they can just walk away, Usual Suspects style. |
Never going to happen.
Why add in ECNL leadership when NWSL can just take over GA like MLS did with GA with US Soccers support? The writings already on the wall about what their intentions are. |
NWSL, even more of a money pit than MLS |
Not responding on this after this. If you read this, it supports everything that I posted above: https://usasportstatistics.net/ With one breath you complain about USARank and GotSport rewarding match volume, but Soccer Ranking is pretty explicit that more = higher and better results too. It is a bastardized ELO. ELO is not data analytics, and neither is Soccer Ranking. It is statistics, but not DA. They aren’t Opta…and they aren’t collecting that sort of data. Football is extremely hard to produce predictive outcomes. Some of the best ELOs produce and accuracy better than random picking, but double 55% accuracy at best. This is why professional gamblers actually ushered in the data revolution of football. Systems like ELO aren’t great. Perfect example is ELOs are based on zero sum outcomes…footy isn’t zero sum. That Other variables that make ratings extremely difficult in soccer are too numerous, but I’ll list a few: roster / health, home / away / crowds, referee calls, weather, etc. All of these variables have a multiplied effect when it comes to youth teams. Totally can agree to disagree about the idea of the marginal difference between Soccer Ranking and GS/USAR, but to believe that there is value in the Soccer Ranking beyond feeling good about your kid’s team (which they rent a seat on) is absolutely absurd. And to believe that there is predictive power in the ranking is equally absurd. Why don’t you start a youth sports gambling website if you believe it? |
Hes back, the guy that thinks anything that isn't p2p doesnt make money. MLS Next is fine, the MLS Academy/homegrown teams are fine. GA is fine |
Sigh... Sports clubs arent setup to make money. In a revenue sense. They're setup to make the club worth more + pay the owners, leadership, and players more if money is made. The average valuation for an NWSL team has recently reached $104 million, reflecting a 57% increase from the previous year. No go face the corner with your stupid hat on. |
That sounds convincing. How is everything? Everything’s fine…just fine…I swear. |
Your right, the bottom never falls out, they can just print money and investors never want to force clubs to make cuts. |
Why do you think Berman keeps pushing for a new TV deal? This is how you define a valuation. If she can get an even bigger TV deal than the NWSL has now all clubs in the league are worth more. Big TV deals translate into more tangible things like jersey sales and advertising opportunities. The amount of money coming in through the gate is important but its not how clubs make most of their money. Its frustrating educating a dunce that literally has no clue. |
About as convincing has someone trying to imply that theyre not without anything to back the statement up. |
With Nationals finishing up next week when will league rules/announcements be released. What are the likely rules to be that change? We know SY is happening but what about other things like team formations/ allowing a certain amount to transition now before 26/27? |
Lol - a lot to unpack there - not trying to gamble on youth soccer games, but I will tell you there is predictive power in rankings when there is enough data. And guess what? Looking at the app at random tournaments produces an accurate result far more often than not. Of course it can't account for plenty of variables, but when it just looks at W/L & SOS it does a damn good job. I just can't believe you're this invested in the argument when you even offer GS results in the same breath. They aren't marginal - there are teams ranked in the top 20 who are 500+ on the app. Why? Because GS rankings are total crap and easy to manipulate and don't account for almost all of the high level matches being played. |
It is hard to convince someone that NWSL teams can afford to subsidize elite youth soccer leagues while their players make less than 100k and the fact that no one watches women’s soccer. |
