PDP is US club and is going to go with a SY age groupings starting this fall. ODP is through USYS and they have two age grouping typically, no idea what they are doing. |
What about U15? |
I was on a futsal website registering for August tryouts. I noticed that if I enter a birth date of July 1, 2010 it show the age group as U16. If I switch the birth month to August, the age group changes to U15.
It seems this futsal club is switching to SY for the upcoming tryouts and therefore the upcoming season. |
Same here the two near us are dividing for SY this winter. |
I’m sure MLSN clubs with futsal will stay BY though ![]() |
Long ago someone posted girls can’t play GA and ECNL next season. For what it’s worth my duaghters GA team has used 3 guest players from ECNL team, they were told they need to get approval from US Soccer to play both?
|
While I have not seen the 25/26 GA rule book, I was told that there is a new rule in place for this season that GA rostered girls will not be allowed to be developmental/discovery ECNL players. Now, as was mentioned above, I am not sure who has the leverage. If your star GA player tells you she is going to be a guest player for ECNL, are you going to kick her off the team? Maybe, maybe not. Will be interesting to see how it works out. |
These girls are rostered for ECNL and GA FT technically. They do not use DP spots for either team. As they attend both practices equally 2 days a week per team. |
Also sounds like this is going to be an ECNL rule not a GA rule as club director for GA team was surprised when he heard this. |
2025-26 Registration Period: Birth Year registration and Aug 1st School Year seasons will be available.
Spring 2026 Registration Period: We will ask all clubs to begin using the School Year season available in the registration system as the standard starting with the Spring 2026 season. 2026-27 Registration Period: The official new Seasonal Year age group standard (August 1st to July 31st) takes full effect as the only option. |
For the Spring 2026 season, creating Spring teams based on the upcoming changes will provide one season in which teams may adjust to the new Seasonal Year age group standard before the Fall 2026 season starts. Fall 2025 we offer both Birth Year and Aug. 1st season selections.
For the 2026-2027 seasonal year and beyond, all participating USYS affiliates leagues and clubs will use the Seasonal Year age grouping August 1st – July 31st (instead of the Birth Year method or August 1st season currently offered). This means players will be grouped based on their Seasonal Year rather than their Birth Year alone. This will be the only option available from that point forward. |
We ask all Affiliate Member Leagues and Clubs to begin formal communications to their parents, players, and coaches explaining the upcoming changes to registration. The 2025-26 Fall season will be the last one in which USYS offers both Birth Year and Seasonal Year options. |
It is a GA Rule. There have been several national team girls that have played both. I guess you could say no. I do not think GA would do that. |
Well the parents of an ECNL player said their club told them ECNL will not allow players who are also rostered with GA. They have played 2 years with my daughters GA and the directors from both clubs know each other so there’s no reason for them to lie to the families. |
I’ve called it all along be ready for hybrid models at some point next year for ECNL/RL teams. |
