I never cared before but as I age and get wider (I'm a size 14 now), I'm avoiding heels. I just feel HUGE. I'm almost 5'10" barefoot so go easily over 6' with a modest heel.
Does it matter how tall DH is? He's "only" 6' so I'm taller in heels. |
| Wear them. Love them. Six feet barefoot. My husband is shorter and loves my shoes. He says a tall wife in heels is an outward display of his confidence. |

I'm 5'9" exactly and I WAS a size 14, until I took control of my diet and exercise. I'm down to an 8 now.
I did not wear heels when I was overweight, I felt that it made me look so big. Now that I lost a bunch of weight, I do wear heels. I like the way they make my legs look even more slender and long. My husband does not care one way or the other, he is 6'4". |
| I'm 5'10" and wear them often, though I don't go over a 3" heel. DH is very tall so that's not an issue, but I wear them mostly to work. Heels look polished in a way flats just don't, imo. |
| I'm 5'12" and I don't usually wear heels. Highest I'll go is a little over 2". But "cute" heels in a size 11.5 shoe is an oxymoron. |
| Yes! |
Good Grief!! Where the heck do you find size 11.5 shoes? And borderline "cute" ones at that? I'm a size 10.5, sometimes 11, and hardly ever find nice shoes. (Sacco in NYC is an exception). As to the original post, I am 5'11" and used to wear heels all the time, but rarely do since I now need to be able to chase a toddler at short notice. |
| As far as buying shoes in "big"sizes, including cute shoes--the only in-store luck I have is Nordstrom Rack. They have a (relatively) excellent selection of sizes 11-13. I wear 11. Otherwise, check out endless.com. I know buying shoes online can be a gamble but endless has free shipping both ways. They also have a lot of width selections. |

I'm six feet. I wear 2 inch heels sometimes to work and defniitely to weddings, etc. But in my "real" life, generally no. Becuase they're uncomfortable. And I'm chasing a toddler.
And yes, the heels make me taller than my husband. I would say that bothered me a tiny bit in the beginning when we first dated. But I still wore the heels. And now I could care less. |
| 5'10" here - never have worn heels. Never. in. my. life. I am sensitive even to shoes like Dansko w/a 2" thick sole. Hate 'em. |
5'12" here -- echo the recommendation for Nordstrom Rack. |

I'm 5'10" and I do wear heels for certain occasions bc I do feel like it is necessary to look dressed up. E.g., I wear heels when I wear a skirt suit for work and when I go to a cocktail/formal event. But I try very hard to keep the heels low, no higher than 2.5" but preferably 2". My DH is also tall, so it has nothing to do with him but I personally just feel enormous when I put on heels higher than that. I'm a size 10 in clothes, so thin-ish (def. used to be thinner!) but I just feel like a giant person when I wear really tall heels. Kudos to you tall ladies who rock the tall heels, though!
I'm also a size 11 (was a 10 before I had my son, dammit!) and so buying cute, low heels is a major major issue. Most low heels are frumpy, I think. Both Cole Haan and Stuart Weitzman make size 11 so I have several pairs of those (I obviously try to buy them on sale, if I can). And I also do shoe shopping almost exclusively online, so that I can sort by size and only look at what's available in my size. Let me just say, shoe shopping was way more fun when I was a size 10!! |
| I'm at your lower end (5'9), and I don't go more than 2" for work. More for a dressy occasion though. Less for weekend/casual wear. Shockingly I only wear an 8 shoe, so no problems finding cute stuff at least. |
| Another 5'9" here, with a size 8.5 shoe. I wear heels regularly, but typically not more than a 2" heel and never more than 3". My DH is 6' tall. |
| Yes, without them I would be shorter than my wife. |
