Perfumed Underwear? (Jockey)

Anonymous
I bought a package of Jockey underwear at L&T last week (don't bother flaming, please, we're on a budget... no VS for me). And, they smell!!

What is this? Smells like perfume? Do they perfume their underwear before packaging??

I've washed it twice and can still smell it. Any ideas?

(Or, any other cheap undies recommendations?)

I've never experienced this. I buy my Jockeys at Kohls (much cheaper!) and just wash before wearing the first time. BTW, my teen buys VS, but middle-aged mom that I am, I prefer Jockey, and from a downmarket store

I don't know what the brand is, but I got a pack of 5 bikini underwear at Costco for $10 and am happy with them. They're cotton blended with something else with stretch.

I'll try Kohl's! I did L&T because they had sent me a good coupon! And, I thought they were standard price. Thanks for the tip.

I actually find that VS' quality has declined anyway. I bought a few from there and the front seam wasn't even sewn down. What is that about?

OP again-

I just checked Kohl's site and actually, their prices for Jockey are the same as L&T. Just, FYI. In case you have a coupon for L&T, don't rule them out automatically!

My sister and I (both early 30s) were at VS this weekend. First we wandered through the Pink section and joked that we couldn't wear the stuff because we're not 15. Then we wandered around the other section and left because we couldn't find a "normal" bra. That is, something that was white or nude, not an extreme push-up plunge bra. Pfft.

I used to really like their cotton panties. But, I've noticed that they manufacture them in varying countries, and the quality noticeably differs depending on where they're made. And, the sizes are inconsistent.

It's too bad, because they were my easy go-to store for undies. Not anymore.

I have noticed tons of teenage girls in there though. Maybe that's their target audience now.

Hanes or Joe Boxer in 5-6 packs at Kmart or Walmart usually cost less than $10 and have served me well for years.

What about Hanes' No Ride Up ones. Do they really stay put?

I stock up on Jockey underwear every few years. Had not bought any since 2008 and purchased some at Kohls BYGO half price for myself and my niece that's going away to college. She was the first to notice that the panties smelled like powder. The fragrance is even there after washing. Its not offensive but I took to the web to see if anyone else has had the same experience.

Lord and Taylor, you mean?

How is THAT helping your budget?

I can see TJ Maxx or Marshall's, but L&T?

Maybe when they were being shipped over a bottle of perfume broke and spilled on some items???

I tried their PINK stretchy underwear- although I admit all of them had some sort of saying on the butt (LET'S PARTY! I LOVE MY BF). It's wonderful. Agree with you about the bras. EVERYTHING is a push-up!! I wear the Cotton Lingerie line

Gap body. I've had mine so long I'm afraid to admit how old they are.

I'm the OP of this thread from way back! I actually compare prices because I've always worn the Jockey bikins and they were cheaper at Lord and Taylor than at Kohl's. Really!

As an aside, I don't always find things are cheaper at TJ Maxx. I don't really get much brand name stuff so I usually find the basics cheaper at someplace like JCP or Target. Toys, maybe, are cheaper at TJ Maxx, but even still, I sometimes do better on Amazon.

I think if you check the Jockey website, there are some reviews mentioning the smell also.

I ordered some plus sized ones recently from their website that came in a bag, instead of the plastic box, and thy did NOT have that smell.

(yes, I've put on weight and now need plus sizes.....)
