VHSL Boys Lacrosse 2026 Season

Playing quality opponents does a lot for a team’s development but the most tangible reason to play a quality schedule is end is season awards. Specifically All American. There are not a lot awards to give away and they are determined before the state tournament has been played.

What does out of district regular season games really mean?

Other than a lot of reasons like challenging yourself, learning from mistakes, how your team responds to failure or even just wanting to beat the best possible teams you can? This is such a dumb post haha. With 3 different state champions now good teams want to be validated by playing teams they can’t play in the playoffs that are in other divisions. Once they went to 3 divisions back in like 2014 it watered down everything. If your team is actually good try to beat a private school or a state champion from another state or Division. Doing “enough” isn’t “enough”

100% - get tested, learn from it, come back better. Cake walking your way to June is the opposite of that.

All correct. VHSL set a limit of 15 Regular Season games, FCPS budgets for 11. If teams want 1-4 more games there are ways to do that that are within the guidance that FCPS puts forward.

I thought about posting this too straight from the scheduling doc. Don’t waste your time. Clearly a parent that doesn't believe ADs are capable of doing anything without a board reg.

Whether schools adhere to these rules or not is neither here nor there since nothing would really happen if they don’t.

So now I want to understand this further and save your snarky comments for someone else.
If I team wins all its Division games, they are the top seed in the Division playoffs? Regardless if they lost every other out of Division game? Or no? Does overall record come into play at all?

Overall record only comes into play as tie breakers for seeding at the district level. The most tangible reason to play a quality schedule is end is season awards. Specifically All American. AA is determined before the state tournament has been played therefor stats from meaningful competition tends carry more weight.
