How long was baby walking after standing?

Moms, what's the age, progression and how long in each period that your baby took for each step? Crawling, standing supported, cruising, walking. Thanks.

varies sooo much.

my son crawled at 10 months (after scooting around very efficiently on the floor before then), stood at 13, walked at 16 months. rand at 16.1 months and has not stopped!

my son has strong gross motor skills so he pulled up at 8-9 months, cruised at 10-11 months and started walking at 11-12 months. But talking, however, did not really take off for a while. He only had 2-3 words at 15 months (other kids I knew at that age had many more, especially girls) and didn't really start talking more until about 21 months. He didn't say mama until 18 months. Sign language helped a bit, but it was frustrating to have this ball of energy that couldn't tell me what he wanted sometimes! I found 1-2 years old to be harder than the newborn stage, especially with the teething thrown in.

That's awesome - thanks for sharing this with us. I guess mine isn't so energetic or curious. Something must be wrong.

It really depends, but for what it's worth my son was sitting at 5 months, crawling at 6 months, cruising at 9-10 months, and is now a year today and has taken a few steps on his own, but is still mostly crawling. My older son also was an early crawler and cruiser, but did not walk until almost 15 months. I think they both just figure it is faster to get around on 4 legs rather than 2!

Nothing wrong with your child - just a variations.

My DD crawled at 8 months, stood unsupported and cruised at 9 months and walked at 10 months. DS is 10 months old, and has yet to crawl.

I think the pp was being sarcastic. Although I don't think the 13:12 meant it in that way, it is sort of obnoxious to imply that just because her daughter was energetic and curious, she walked early. I think a lot kids are that way, but that doesn't mean they walk/don't walk by a certain time.

crawling at 7 months, cruising from 7 months, standing at 10 months, walking at 13 months. She is very risk averse so didn't want to walk until she was sure she could. She went from one step to 20 in one day.

Every child is SOO different. As someone else pointed out, kids can't do everything at once. My daughter was quick on movement but slower on talking. Imagine what they are undertaking every day. So much development. Just chill and enjoy each phase.

My DS was sitting around 6 mo, crawling around 9 and walking at 12 month, textbook style. But I can tell you from seeing the other kids in our daycare that it can easily happen 2-3 months later, and the kids turn out just fine.
Those who start walking earlier (e.g. at 10 months) tend to get hurt more, because their depth perception is off. One friend got his kid a helmet because the daycare teachers said they'd never seen an infant injure himself so much!

My DS crawled at 7 months (army style), crawled well at 8 months, pulled up at 9 months, cruised at 10 months and started walked like a drunken man at 11 months. He is now one year old and climbing on sofas, ottomans, and just this morning climbed out of the pack in play. I cannot contain him anymore.

yeah, they are so different. my three year old does not climb out of the pack and play (or his crib!) he was late standing/walking (but he stands/walks/runs just fine now!) and was verbal early. again, they all just develop differently..different skills at different times.

I do hate when moms say things like that. Like your kid is more energetic and curious. blah. Each baby is different and early walking means absolutely nothing.

DD rolled over at 11 weeks, sat up and crawled at 5.5 months, pulled up and cruised at 9 months, walked at 14.5 months!!! We were absolutely astonished she was so late at walking when she was so early with every thing else!

My dd walked at 9.5 months--and today is a physically-cautious 5-year-old! Curious, yes. Energetic, not so much. Early walking hasn't meant much for her.

DC said his first word (7 months), before he crawled (9 months), before he ate any solids (10 months), and eventually walked (14 months). There's such an incredibly wide range of "normal".
