How long was baby walking after standing?

Anonymous
My first crawled at four months, cruised at six months, stood at seven months, look her first steps at seven months, but didn't take another unassisted step until she was nine months. My second child crawled at six months, cruised at six months, stood at eight or nine months, and walked at 11 months.
My son was so much more laid back than my daughter. She wanted to do everything, and she was able to do it NOW. My son was never like that, he was happy just observing. I could tell the difference from the day they were born, and I was glad he would be a little slower to do things.

I don't think that the poster who said her child was curious and energetic didn't mean other children weren't. When you have a child like that, who is just more of everything, you know it. These are children who move a bit faster, and are a bit more determined. It doesn't make that child better, or worse than any other child. Each child is going to do what they want, at the pace they want, and it is something we have no control over.

I have twins.
My daughter pulled up and cruised for 3-4 months before walking independently.
My son pulled up, cruised for a day and then took off walking.

The end result was that they started walking within a week of each other.

OP here, thanks this has been helpful to see the variation among our children. I assume when you say your child was standing that it was unassisted. Only trying to get some real life feedback as compared to what the books say. Plus prepare for more babyproofing. But I think toddlerproofing might be something different!

btw OP, i do think you should take the baby books with a grain of salt, especially what to expect. the format of what your child may be doing and should be doing suggests there is an issue of your child is not doing something. my son was much later on alot of the physical stuff than those timelines and my pediatrician was not concerned at all..and he's totally fine now.
