^ 3-0 in 2020 with wins over Prep and Landon.
Undefeated in the area in 2021. Transfer in summer of 2021. Clearly, the brothers help, but they would be the best team in the area without them. |
| The defensive brother doesn’t play at all. Just the FOGO |
He plays plenty at LSM. They both play a role but the team is loaded all over the field. |
| Are we getting an early look of what Gonzaga will have next year? Think SJC and PVI will be safe. |
|
is Prep this good after a slow start or is Gonzaga this bad?
I know the UNC attackman is out but man they look bad all over the field. |
Teams have their ups and downs. GP started against some really good teams but it hitting their stride. They have looked good the last few games. GZ looks lost on offense without UNC attack and is playing with no confidence. They also lost another of their starting attack, the kids who scored the game winner against PVI. In the first Q tonight, GZ had about 5 possession and came away with zero goals. You can’t beat good teams if you don’t capitalize when you have the chance. |

Rankings for Week of 4/4/
With a full month of games having been played, we are starting to see which teams are bullish and whose bearish. 1. SJC (9-0): this really could be a special team. Expect them to cruise past the Heights today and Episcopal Academy from Philly later this week. St. Anthony's looms in the background 2. Prep (6-3): Lil Hoyas dominated their Jesuit rivals last night. Prep seems to have found its offensive mojo after a slow start. Their losses came against #1 SJC, #3 Brunswick, and #10 Saint Marys. The Hoyas clash with their archnemesis Landon on Friday 3. PVI (7-2): PVI picked up their first-ever program victory over Landon this past weekend. A tough non-league matchup against Malvern Prep this afternoon from the Inter-Act. 4. St Stephens (10-1): The Saints have been cruising ever since taking a slacking from PVI a few weeks ago. The Saints dominated the competition during their Texas spring break trip and have doubled up on VISAA opponents. Saints travel to crosstown rival Episcopal to open up IAC league play. 5. Gonzaga (8-2): The Purple Eagles lost their #1 offensive threat to a potential season-ending injury and simply are not the same caliber of team. They look lost on both sides of the ballin their past two contests. An interesting battle with IAC rival Bullis looms and then a road trip down to Texas where the Eagles will square off against some tough competition in Dallas Jesuit and the Episcopal School Dallas. 6. Bullis (4-4): The Bulldogs dropped a tough one over the weekend to Malvern Prep. The bulldogs seem to be struggling offensively which is not a surprise given the firepower they graduated last Spring. St Albans on Thursday and the Purple Eagles on Saturday should be a good barometer this week. 7. Landon (5-4): The Bears went 1-1 last week, picking up a win against DeMatha but dropping a 6-4 contest to PVI. Landon's defense appears to be much improved but its offensive production is lacking. Bears and the Lil Hoyas face off on Friday. 8. St Albans (8-3): Based on their record, one might think the Bulldogs are legit this year. While their strength of schedule has been questionable, the Bulldogs seem to be improved this season and are playing with confidence. Will this be the year they finally get out of the basement of the IAC and knock off either Bullis or Landon? STA vs Bullis on Thursday will tell us if these guys are contenders or pretenders. 9. The Heights (6-3): I like what Boh Mitchell is doing with this program. His players play hard for him and keeping it very close with both Gonzaga and PVI tells you everything you need to know about the direction in which this program is headed. 10. DeMatha (4-4): DeMatha is young and athletic. Looks for these guys to improve under Dave Mitchell. A tough non-league matchup against traditional Philadelphia Catholic power La Salle takes place this afternoon. |

PVI and SSSA hiding behind soft out of conference schedules.
I would take a Bullis team that had the guts to play but lose to: Culver (#10) Spalding (#17) Malvern Prep Haverford. Or GZ who had the stones to schedule and beat some of: Culver (#10) McD (#13) Prep (#15) Loyola B (#23) Rankings from most recent USA Lax. PVI was exposed by the crushing by SJC and loss to GZ. SSSA will be exposed in IAC play. |
Has their FO game been this bad all season? How do you beat McDonogh and Culver without winning a FO? How do they come back on PVI? Are the players hurt mostly seniors? If so this younger group doesn’t have much. |
| GZ FO game has been competent against most opponents, but the SJC and Prep FOGOs are two of the best around. |
| Anyone watching GZ all year has seen the warning signs on offense. Largely relying on the production of one player with occasional support from 1-2 others is a prescription for disaster against mediocre teams, but without even that one player and against good teams, its gonna go bad fast. |
| Does anyone understand how GZ can have a small army on the sidelines and not have anyone who can stick it in the cage? 9-2 at the half and its over. Prep stared pulling its starters from that point on, but GZ kept its starting offense in the whole time. Don't understand. |
Seems their purple god has abandoned them. |
| Most Zaga haters are parents of bench players. sad. |
Sad that Zaga bench players are not good. |
