I hope they didn't suffer. Just because we found pieces does not mean death was qyick or easy.

People suffer in much worse ways every day all over the world. Why do you care about these particular people?

I didn't know we weren't supposed to care about some kinds of people.

Typically people you know. Maybe even people who suffer greatly at the hands of others. Or large scale destruction.

A few random people who died in an accident during a high risk activity that they chose to do? Meh.

I feel bad for them, I bet they didn’t know the risks. I sign “death” waivers every time my kids go to a sky zone party. Maybe they were inured to signing waivers and thought it was a reputable company.

We care about billionaires dying in idiotic ways not the thousands who die every day from hunger and treatable diseases. Anyone who disagrees, look at cnn.com or nytimes.com and compare the coverage of these ‘explorers’ to Sudanese suffering from civil war

Just because one tragedy is more news-worthy than another does not mean we care more about one victim than the other. I may be more interested in this story than the civil war in Sudan, but when it comes to choosing between making donations to charities for hungry Sudanese or financing bored billionaire explorers' expeditions, I choose to dante to the Sudanese.

Don’t forget the movie, perhaps by James Cameron, that’s what’s next.

I can’t imagine any company covering this expedition with insurance.

They found debris near the Titanic. All 5 dead. RIP.

Late last night I read that a marine sonar expert had discounted the sounds as likely just coming from Titanic, which is actively disintegrating and pieces are constantly falling off and banging into other parts of the wreckage. The Coast Guard indicated there was no SOS in the sounds and no precision of timing either.

These guys were dead before their surface crew ever called for help.

I was wondering this too? What was the banging/pinging?

It could have been animal sounds.

But these sounds were heard every half hour precisely?

Incorrect.

None of the people are stupid anymore than those who strive to go to space.

Just because you would never do it, doesn’t mean others shouldn’t!

I hope they rose to the surface and just haven’t been found yet.

These guys weren't inventors. They were tourists.

It's not even like Everest, where people have to train and be fit beyond imagining. These people just wrote a check.

False. They were Mission Specialists.

Without their participation, this scientific venture would not have moved forward.

People in this area claim to be in favor of Science, but when the rubber meets the road, it is all “hurr durr! They were privileged billionaires. Their fee for this trip would have been better spent on Teslas for the unhoused”

The airplane pilot, Pakistani businessman, and his son were tourists. The CEO and Titanic expert were scientists/experts/explorers or whatever.

Incorrect. They were Mission Specialists.

Please stop embarrassing yourself. It’s not as cute as you think it is.

No. Because the Real Time Health Monitoring System also imploded. I do not think you understand the immense pressure the water creates.

I mean, I never claimed to, so I also don't understand why you felt the need to add that dig (though I can come up with plausible reasons).

Anyways, I know it's a lot of pressure, but I would think the pressure increases gradually the deeper you go, not instanteously. And that the monitoring system would pick up on that.

Without any previous hull failures, how do you know when too much is too much? Again, carbon fiber is brittle. It's fine until it isn't.

That’s why the sacked engineer had said the vessel needed to be cycled to failure, and scanned other than using acoustics

Seriously? Wow. Thanks. Who knew???
What are all these other people talking about?

Anonymous wrote:This is a long thread, so I don't know if this is already been mentioned. But the reason that the owner of the vessel was able to cut so many corners was because they were exploring an international waters, so no laws applied. Not US regulations nor any other country's regulation applied to this exploration. The business owner of this venture is a piece of sh!t.

Yes, of course it’s been discussed for multiple pages.

You do you. Caring about one group of people does not exclude caring about another group of people (yeah, there are exceptions, but not in this case).
