Some people just like to complain. About nothing. |
this is a reasonable response. (PP here) |
I think the comment is more aimed at "doing things right" rather than just "getting them back". |
I'm sending my children to catholic school next year. It's not that much money and it's a real in person education. |
well the current education isn't even mediocre. next year wont be any better. there wont be 5 days in person. you think those teachers are gonna give up their planning day? no chance. kids might go back for 4 days and it will be sloppy. you can expect a less than mediocre education from APS for the unforeseeable future. |
Written like someone who attended Catholic schools. Delusional and poorly written. APS is going to be 5 days in-person in the fall. But feel free to waste your money on mediocrity. |
Our APS elementary school has been great through this scary and confusing and changing pandemic.
My child had learned a lot. His teacher has been excellent. My frustration is with people who didn’t take this seriously and made it worse for everyone. |
I don't think its OK for Duran and the SB to just throw in the towel on 5 days in-person now. Sorry, but the lazy approach for the past year, (especially NO teaching last March-June) needs to be made up and it should happen now. According to his message, even if the CDC announces reduced social distancing, he plans on hybrid until the fall. Our kids have suffered for an entire year and the SB and Duran should do their jobs to get them back FT, sorry if it's an inconvenience. |
+10000 I missed the boat for private school next year and I have a thousand regrets about that. I stupidly thought APS would have their act together by now. |
I agree. There should be an evolution in the direction of all kids back, as much as possible, this year. |
It’s too disruptive to reshuffle the classes again this far into the school year. And not sure the buses could accommodate 2x the amount of kids with safe distances. It will be 5x next year so you can turn down the drama dial. |
It's so nice that our kid's education hinges on buses. Glad no one explored any out of the box thinking like, I don't know, not every kid has to ride the bus! |
Not every kid does ride the bus. They are down from ~50 kids per bus down to 11. How are you going to find more buses & bus drivers at this point? The bigger issue IMO is reshuffling the classes again and shaking up that stability. It’s not trivial. |
I think that if the guidance shifts down to 3 feet and APS determines to open for 4 or 5 days per week, it needs to allow families to re-select whether they want to be in hybrid or virtual. For some families, some of the (potential) hassles of hybrid weren't worth it for only 2 days of in-person, but might be worth it for 5. So that's an entire logistical process that would need to be factored in to the equation, too. When parents are on AEM saying, "let's open up fully because there's space in my classroom!" -- that doesn't really account for all of the students that would actually be there if everyone went back every day. |
It’s almost the end of the third quarter. Realistic people understand that this year is a wash. I don’t want them spending any more time messing around with this year’s logistics. They should focus on getting next year in good shape - not 100% normal, but much closer than now. Parents complaining about “five days now” are tying up the resources to do the planning by making calculations on how to keep reshuffling deck chairs on the Titanic. The kids may not be flourishing now, but they will survive. |
