But that's the thing - if the CDC/VDH get rid of the 6-foot rule, we're able to fit all the k-2 kids per class into one classroom each. Then 5 days a week doesn't seem quite so crazy. |
Depends on the school/room. |
If schools open 5 days/week in the Fall, is it likely extended day programs will as well? |
Until kids in elementary school can get a vaccine I truly don’t see how the fall will be normal with all kids back 4or 5 days. |
Then keep your kid home. |
The message below came from APS tonight in the email addressing the 3 foot CDC recommendation... I agree it may not be normal (masks) but we are going back 5 days.

Back to normal in the Fall. Sorry. |
I am dying to know the answer to that one, too. In normal years, we’d be signing up for it right about now. |
What does “normal” mean to you?
Five days of in-person babysitting? Yes, probably. Five days of quality instruction for all? No chance. APS will have to spend 2+ years catching up those that learned nothing for a year and a half. |
Or more. |
Yep. Normal will take years. |
AGree. We need a commitment that in-person school = in-person teacher teaching live from the front of the classroom. None of this DL nonsense. |
Even if teachers are in the classroom, they’re going to spend most of the year catering to those who learned nothing this past year. For students that were able to keep up, things will be horrible. Just sitting in a class learning nothing. We need them to do learning assessments, and to hold students back that aren’t ready to advance a grade. |
