Ok Mr. Perfect. What should I use to be gender neutral if I can’t use he/she? |
Thanks to the PP that’s why the TOCO person corrected the mistake. |
|
| Sorry hit send. It is they. But next time maybe add "they" to he or she to be sensitive. |
Don’t be stupid now. They implies a plural which means multiple people when it’s just one person that posted that info. Don’t try to be a LGBTTQQIAAP advocate when you don’t have any idea what it is. |
Mx. Perfect to you. "They" would indeed be appropriate (yes, even when referring to singular individuals). Setting that aside, please just be nicer. No need to add more nastiness to an already nasty world. |
Right. But until MoCo execs remove their heads from their arses, soccer is still high risk here and it doesn’t matter to us soccer parents and kids that other sports have expanded field access for games. |
+1. Exactly. It’s a soccer forum with a MoCo thread title. Hence, please post information that is relevant to MoCo soccer. Gee whiz. |
So stupid and off topic. Back to fighting about soccer. Go elsewhere if you want to fight for gay rights. |

| So does anyone have any ideas if/when MoCo might re-categorize soccer from High Risk to Medium Risk? |
No idea - they seem to have gone silent on this. I am in shock that they have given the go ahead to lacrosse and field hockey to play full games as long as the crowd is under 50 but are not even allowing soccer to scrimmage at practice with their own teammates. |
Mark Elrich just sent an email to county residents (subject: Reopening Montgomery: An Active August) in which he says the following: "Access to athletic fields to allow youth and adult games and tournaments for low- and medium-risk sports for groups of 50 or less is being expanded by Montgomery Parks, which is part of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. Fields at local parks are currently available and fields at regional and recreational parks will be available starting Tuesday, Sept. 1. Games and tournaments were canceled in March due to the COVID-19 health crisis. High-risk sports games, such as football and rugby, are not permitted at this time. Practice and skill-building drills for high-risk sports are permitted. Sports are categorized by risk by the Maryland Sports Commission Return to Play Committee Report." The Committee Report was linked and when you click on it, it's the Maryland State Sports Commission report dated June 5 that classifies soccer in the medium risk category. My read is that, although it wasn't stated explicitly, the county is now deferring to that state report?? |
So either: 1. They’re quietly walking back their high risk classification by referencing the report or 2. They’re about to pull the rug from under your feet again and say “oh, forgot to mention...soccer is still high risk in MoCo” Why send out an email like this and not directly call out soccer since businesses, families, and players are on the edge of their seats waiting. |
Your reading is not correct. And yes it is very confusing. Technically speaking, soccer is medium risk sport even in Moco, but it is singled out (with an asterisk) that games are not allowed until phrase 3. It is a "medium risk" sport but being treated as "high risk" in Moco county. I do not think Elrich and Gayles even thought about it this week. They picked a bad vendor for cov19 test and was being defending themself, also they are trying hard to prevent school to open. |
