Well if they really plan to sue, the tape will 100% be played at the trial. |
I know, right? There is no reason they need to see it before filing. They are guaranteed access on discovery. |
There is nothing about his story that has any hint of credibility to me. No wonder they want to see the video. |
Yep. And grandpa will change his story again to support what the video shows. Also, the lawyer needs to see the video in order to be able to spin that it was the cruise line’s fault. He knows his clients aren’t telling the truth and has to spin this. But he needs to see the truth first order to create his spin. |
This. The grandfather was stupid to go with the story about holding her up to tap on the glass. A better story would have been "I held her up and I just don't know what happened". It would be plausible to black out this event, your brain tries to protect itself sometimes. But the grandpa can't get on the stand and knowingly lie. So they need the video to make sure his testimony goes along with it. |
Yup. I know the family is grieving but everything about them makes me think money whores vs trying to protect themselves during the grieving process. I wonder what people think of them in real life |
Yes. 1. She could have tapped on the glass at floor level. You know, just like in the picture of her at the hockey game they showed -- she didn't need to be lifted up then, and she didn't need to be lifted up to head height on the cruise ship. 2. He put her on the railing and she fell out the window? She was 18-19 months. The railing isn't next to the window. She, what -- took a flying leap out the window? Wasn't she supposed to be trying to tap on the glass … like she could have from standing on the floor? The family is grieving. Regardless of anything else, I believe that. It is still beyond the pale to threaten to sue an entity that did not actually do anything wrong or negligent, and to do it by making up a story which changes over time (and which promises to change -- again -- once you review the evidence). |
| I know the family is grieving and I get that's part of why they are suing. But it's not a good look when they continue to lie (window was not in a play area) and continue to tell a story that makes no sense. Either they are so deep in denial that they honestly believe this false reality, or they are just money hungry |
The reason is that they don’t want to be counter sued by the cruise line. They need to make sure the video is something they can spin. |
This. |
| The grandfather is 51 years old. About the age of many, many parents here. I also just saw on the news that at the prosecutors saw the tape, which is why they brought charges. Th family has not yet seen the tape. |
| The dumbass heartless prosecutor overstepped and will never get a conviction. What a loser. |
You’d think that would have been enough for them to take a seat. But instead the dug in deeper and continued to have their lawyer talk to the press. |
| How hasn't the lawyer for the family at least seen the tape? Is he just strewing them along to keep them (and the lawyer) in the news? |
DP here. For clarification, is there something the family or their lawyer could do to get access to the tape, or can the cruise line rightfully deny them access to the tape before trial? |
