Can you be elegant if you’re not elegant looking?

The picture posting technique hasn't worked for me in about a year. Don't know why. Stop being such a boor.

Kate without makeup not so glamorous

I’m sure if you google all your ladies without makeup walking down the sidewalk they’d look plain Jane!

Here are some pictures of Audrey Hepburn - dressed casually, wearing no makeup, etc. She is elegance personified.

Here's Jackie Kennedy dressed casually and looking - as always - chic and elegant. You don't have to be dressed formally to look elegant.

You're probably not copying the IMAGE link, which is hard to do on a tablet.

Very elegant.
Is some of that the background?

If you have a sailboat in the background. Or walking from a helicopter pad with your children, or standing on a grassy oceanfront lot........

The least elegant of these is the orange shirt. If she was pushing a cart around Giant, that wouldn’t be “elegant.” I think part of it is the setting + simple look.

She doesn’t look elegant. Too thin, yes.

Actually, I think Jackie probably would look elegant pushing a shopping cart at Giant. IMO, a lot of "elegance" has to do with posture -- and the way you carry your body in both movement and stillness. If you've taken many ballet classes for example, you have a good sense of how to keep yourself aligned so you aren't hunched over, have a sway back, etc.

MM isn’t very elegant. She’s hot.

Maybe... good point. But I do think elegance has a lot to do with bearing and she always looked so cool and confident. That goes a long way.

I think she looks perfect. Tall and slim - not too thin IMO.

Exactly. I'm the poster who said a lot of it has to do with your bearing. I try to remind my daughter (and myself) to keep her shoulders back. It really helps.
