Georgetown Day vs. Maret?

Sidwell boys and girls routinely beat public schools in DC, MD, VA and wherever else they play.

Sidwell
Maret
GDS

In that order

Sidwell maybe losing its grip on kids of WH Admin/ Journalistas a bit on that in post- Obama years and wih a lot of dysfunction in US especially

But NONE of these schools are particularly strong in sports. LOL, come on- these are small Private schools and if they were to compete against any public school in BB, FB in Maryland or VA it would possibly be dangerous for them to even take the Field.

Why exclude the Cathedral schools? I would say it is both Cathedral schools (STA/NCS) and Sidwell at one level & GDS and Maret slightly below.

The person who said that small schools like Sidwell never beat big public schools in any sports. It is simply a false statement.

Sidwell does not routinely beat the best public schools in DC. With the exception of one time 4-5 years ago, they don’t beat Wilson high in basketball. Even with future NBA players.

They will beat most DC city schools, with the exception of 2 or 3, and the are competitive in basketball, may even be able to to compete the DC public schools in football, however they can’t compete with most of the suburban football squads.

Anyone knows that DC sports is so diluted that there is no competition. It’s like you’re saying they are the tallest midget.

The only school to compare to in DC is Wilson. You don’t get credit for beating KIPP 🤦🏻‍♀️

Nope, surveys are weighted only 11.3 percent, the least among all six factors considered.

The only difference between the ratings of GDS and Sidwell is that GDS gets an A for sports and Sidwell gets a B+. I’m not even sure that this makes sense. GDS is good at girls soccer and girls track. Sidwell is good at basketball, boys soccer and tennis. There is probably more but how does this make the difference?

Sidwell has won several DCSAA championships as well as MAC Director Cups over the last several years. Their only "bad" teams have been football and baseball - same coach finally retired. Football is 3-0 this year, and baseball started improving last spring.

Girls basketball is a nationally ranks top 5 team with three US National Team gold medalists.
Boys basketball has been near the top of city rankings with several D1 and D3 players, and 2 in the NBA.
Boys and Girls Tennis have swept the DC tennis for the past few years and are both nationally ranked.

I don't get how GDS is considered a better sports school unless it considered Quiddich to be a real sport.

It’s high school. Far too many adults too heavily invested in this.

These threads are always interesting to me because it’s in the wrong order. Obviously seems better to apply first then see what your options are. Both are good schools so no reason not to apply to both.
